my ladies new coop

Very nice set-up

I have a question about other types of predators that are going to try to get at my girls. I have used chicken wire for my coop/run combo unit. No foxes here in SoCal but we do have a healthy amount of raccoons, opposoms and skunks. As well as dogs and cats of course. Is chicken wire on the coop/run (buried two feet into the ground of course) adequate? My coop is about to get some use as the 5 5week old chicks are more than crowded in their brooder.

Thank you for posting. I have a similer design on the side of my yard. I am thinking of moving where my ladies are now to the side since it would give them more space when they go in at night. I have mine free-range. But I have had some issues with a racoon. Same racoon has been busy around here and well known in the neighborhood

Your post and photo's have given me some great ideas. I have a large shed on the side but am thinking I can convert it into something my ladies will enjoy. Also my goal is to hide them as much as I can , I don't want neighbors to complain.
