I just checked out Ideal's site and looked at the Silkies. The Lavender is the Self Blue, right? Those are sold out until 2009! Congrats on being able to get some! WOW! I put myself on the waiting list for some.

I got an order earlier from them in the year of lavender silkies. Out of 4 I have 3 cockerals and 1 pullet (go figure) lol

Here's a link to my website for pictures of them, they are 3 1/2 months old:

Just go the the Photo section and click on the Lavender silkie album

I don't have any pictures because my camera is dead.

I got up anxiously this morning and waited for the PO to call. No call. I had to go work at the nursing home I volunteer at this morning, so I went to work. I told my mom to give the PO a call to see if they arrived late for some reason. She said she would.

She forgot!!

So I call her at lunch time and say.... "Did you call the PO yet? Did they come?" Whoops, I forgot sorry. So I call the PO and the chicks were there since 6:30 this morning. My mom took off work and got them.

I'm glad that they got here in one day so the little extra wait didn't hurt them any.

I ordered 6 silkies and recieved 6 extra chicks for warmth. I have no clue what breed they are. They are mostly black with some brown and white on them. They have pinkish/yellowish colored legs.

In a way I'm dissapointed with this shipment of silkies compared to my other lavenders. Out of six chicks, one holds its leg out to the side. (spraddle leg maybe???) The other two have the wrong number of toes, but that is expected with hatchery birds.

Overall, I am happy with Ideal Hatchery and will be ordering from them again next year!!
