I have 14 leghorn pullets which arrived as day olds two weeks ago. I did some figuring, and that would mean they will be five months old around November. Does this mean that I will have to wait until spring for the first eggs? Will the hens just start laying even if the days are shortening? I thought of lighting the coop, but I don't want to interfere with there bodies like that, so that won't be an option.
Basically to sum it all up, can five month old hens start laying in November with no artificial light?
