They need to get a little more red around their eyes before eggs start appearing. You're probably only 2-3 weeks from getting eggs though. Ginger looks ready, but if she's healing from a wound, she may not lay until she's healed.
yeah. That's what I was thinking about Ginger. Buffy looks ready too, but Ginger kinda squats when you touch her back. I wasn't sure about the leghorns. She's really grown and gone red, but I think it needs to be just a shade darker to match the red in Ginger and Buffy. The waddles developed over the last few days. It's amazing how much they can change in such a short time. Last week at this time, only one leghorn was getting red, the other three were pinkish and still small combs, now it's three red and one pink.
Tick tock... I still look for an egg, but never really expect to find one. One day soon, I hope.
Mine are pretty big bullies. I had to put peepers on them. The pecked Ginger bloody many times and even w/ the blinders on, they still sometimes go after each others combs... one is really mean.... And they can fly pretty well... blinders help w/ that too.
Thanks. We lost Ginger a few weeks ago to something. She was in a dog crate, in our garden, where she has been on and off all summer due to getting pecked... one day... her head was gone... GONE... No idea what got to her... she was finally healing and was soon to be going back to the flock. Poor thing died painfully... RIP, Ginger.
Eahhhh... I don't know.. they're flighty and not big on lovings... they just kinda walk around, squat and poop out eggs.. which is what I have them for.
