My leukemia's back.

Where I live, was in the direct path of the eye of the hurricane. The wind howled, and blew. The rain hammered at the windows. We were blessed, and got through it all just fine. The lights flickered, and even went off, then right back on several times, but we did not lose power for any length of time.

After surveying the surrounding damages this morning, even my non-believer husband had to admit that we had a lot more than luck on our side last night. We lost a few shingles, and some of the screen tore from the screened-in-porch. That's it. The insurance company has already been notified.

Dh headed up the drive, to clear it, and to help clear any neighbor's drives that needed it. The couple that live closest to the road, had a huge fallen oak tree protruding from their home. Over half of their home was demolished by the tree. They had a little RV stored in their barn, so they took refuge there. They had already contacted someone to come cut, and remove the tree, so the electric company could fix their power lines, and get power for their RV.

The home with the protruding tree, and our house, is a house trailer. They evacuated during the storm, and returned this morning to assess their damages. The trailer looked fine, but their power line got caught in a big falling branch, and one end snapped off the pole, and the rest of their line is laying all over their front yard. They too, are without power. The remaining two places on the other side of us, are without power as well. Those two homes share a power line, and their transformer blew up. One of those two homes has a decent generator, so they are doing fine. The other home without power, they loaded up, and went to the wife's parents today. They'll return when the power is restored. We offered assistance, ice, and hot showers, to anyone that wanted.
