I got some of my tests. The gal in admitting goofed, and sent me for the wrong test first. The contrast dye from the test she sent me to, interferes with the contrast from the other test. It takes 7 days for the contrast from that test to clean out of my system, so they can do the other test. Now, I have to go back next Friday, get stabbed for another IV, all because the gal in admitting didn't follow the schedule.

She was to notify the other dept. as well, so they could administer the contrast for the last test. It takes 3 hours for that contrast to work, so they were to notify them as soon as I got done with my first test, so they could infuse the contrast for the last test, and it would be ready by the time I finished with the rest of the tests. She didn't notify them, so I had to wait 3 hours. Every test I took, they kept apologizing, and they assured me they knew the name of the person that admitted me, screwed everything up, and that they would be dealt with. I don't doubt it, since it cost the hospital money.

What others have said. If a tick is well embedded, the chance of removing it without leaving pieces behind are very poor. Ticks are incredibly nasty things, and a tick bite, even with complete removal, is apt to leave a cess pool of bacteria behind that will fester, and abscess, and take months to heal. This is with a normal bite, not with one that has complications. I got a bite this fall, tiny little tick, partially embedded. I got the whole thing out, but, even so, it left a 1/2" diameter raised purple welt that lasted 6 weeks.

Um, Bruce... the tick that got me this fall went up my boot, up my sock, the full length of my pant leg, to embed at hip level. thankfully, he chose the lateral aspect of my hip. Had he gone medial, and had he gone just a couple of inches higher, I'd have been sitting in the Doc. office for tick extraction, and doubtless would have provided more fodder for Medical staff lunch stories: "Yep, must have been a hot day... or the Granny had an other hot flash. Says she was stacking fire wood, but... the scene of the crime don't fit the story!!!" I was in my front yard, so... no opportunity for funny business!

How ever, these are the neatest little gadgets ever invented. Every home and car should have a set:

GAC, I'm so sorry you got messed up yet again. Be sure the physician who ordered these tests is notified that they messed up.
