My leukemia's back.

Have a good day Team!

My oncologist hates going to the dentist. It translates over to her patients. In a couple months I will be starting Reclast/Zometa infusions, to offset the bone density loss caused by the chemo, and the current inhibitors. She wanted to start immediately, but I insisted I had to go to the dentist first. While going thru chemo, I had to have 2 teeth pulled, instead of being able to get them fixed, due to timing, and medication. I NEVER want to have any more pulled if I can help it, but wanted to get my mouth back up to par.

This morning I went to the dentist. All I had to have was a medium cleaning, and 2 small cavities filled. The cavities were so small, I didn't even have to be numbed. I go back for a re-check in 6 weeks to make sure the inflammation to my gums from the cleaning, subsides. The dentist says that barring anything unforeseen, my mouth is good for another year. Regardless, I will go back in 6 months for routine cleaning. I LIKE having a clean, healthy mouth, and when I go regularly like I should, it's a breeze. I'm 61, and still have all my teeth, except 2, and they're all in good shape. I intend to keep it that way as long as possible.

Good Job on keeping those teeth!

As my grandmother used to tell us:
"Take care of your teeth, you don't want dentures."

My Dad will be 90 in October, still has all his teeth, very few fillings. I know my FIL has all his, at 92, and I don't think he has ANY fillings. MIL also has all her teeth.
