My leukemia's back.

Good Morning Team Rachel! It's Rae's Honey. Just reminiscing. It's so hard to believe that it has been almost a year since her last relapse. It's so amazing to see you all still getting together on this thread!
Since you're all still here, let me give you an update:
Big Boy moved out on Halloween and is now engaged and living in the Klamath Falls, Oregon area. I speak with him most every week. He has done some growing up, but still has further to go.

Echo moved out on Thanksgiving and is doing who knows what in Washington state somewhere. He communicates regularly with Sugar Monkey, but I do not hear from him.

Sugar Monkey got his driver's license in January! He has a 3.1 GPA in what they are now calling AP (advanced placement) classes. He still wants to join the military and become a Doctor. He found a sweet girl to call his girlfriend and they have been together for almost 2 months.

I am doing as Rae requested, "find someone else to make happy. You are too good of a man not to." I found a wonderful woman that understands that I will always love Rachel and has no concerns with that. Rae will always be a part of me. Amy and I are engaged with August 4th set for the big day. Amy brings with her James, a 16 year old boy; Christina, a 12 year old girl; Bubba and Booker, 2 Springer Spaniels into the family.

CircleLazyB Ranch is still going. Our flock is down to 20 or so birds from well over a hundred. We still have the 4 cattle, with our little bull Chili having just turned 1 year on the 28th of February. We had twin Boer goat bucklings on January 1st this year! They're so cute! And of course we have the 2 horses, Rachel's mare Daffy is 28 years old and stills lets Sugar Monkey jump up on her bareback and they go for short walks.
Some days are better than others, but I know that Rae is with Jesus! Singing loudly, snapping her fingers and swaying to the heavenly music! That is what allows me to carry on, truly knowing that she is in Paradise!
Thank you all for being a part of her life! You all meant so much to her and because of that, to me!

Thanks for the update!

And you are all still part of us, and always will be - whether you wanna be or not! Thank you so much for the update - it means so much to us that you understand so well what Rachel meant to us and how strong her legacy is!

The boys have become men.....when did that happen? :idunno I wish them lives just filled with the gifts you and Rachel gave them to grow on....and of course I hope you and Amy and the blended tribe will have all the happiness you deserve. Rachel is not only singing and swaying, she’s dancing with delight that you have done exactly as she wanted for you. Stop by once in awhile and let us know how you are doing, and a wedding picture or two would be lovely! :love

This so exciting to see how life goes on. I also have a blended family. My DH's wife passed. We combined ..with 11 children .. then had one. His, mine, and ours! Hard at first, but now, these kids consider themselves as family. They call each other brother and sister. :) They even like me better. ;) In fact, they love me now. Now that they have children, and can see that dad and I were doing our best for them. So glad that you have found happiness again in love. Oh yeah! You said that you believe that Rachel is in Heaven, I also believe that my DH's former wife is there. And, I think that we know each other. I really believe that we will be giving each other big hugs when we see each other. Maybe Amy will get into the ..Chicken..thing, and come to join BYC. We would love to meet her. :) Congratulations!

Thanks for the update. It's wonderful that you've found someone. Does she like chickens? Please keep us posted about the boys, your wedding, and anything else you wish to share. Pictures are always good. Maybe you can post a few of your wedding, and blended family. You're part of the family here too, after all.

“Honey’s” post got me thinking about how closely she and my sister Linda will always be linked in my mind. Ashley, my little great niece who was diagnosed with leukemia, was Linda’s granddaughter. Linda and Rachel were both in hospice at the same time, and they passed away close to the same time.

Tonight I was putting an appointment down on the calendar when I suddenly realized that it’s only 5 months until Ken becomes a Grand Master of Wyoming. August 13th is coming so fast! I had always believed, from the time Ken was appointed to the Line, that when he was finally installed, my family would be there. Of course, then Linda had her aneurism, then the 3X weekly dialysis, so that 3 day event became impossible for her, but she was so proud of her “big brother” and I know she’d have given anything to have been healthy enough to attend. Her beloved Russ is planning to come, as are Lori and Steve and my brother Ron, along with my kids and grandkids. I decided that there will be a white rose on the head table to represent her. She wanted to be there, and doggone it, she will be!

And I stood there at the calendar, all of these thoughts racing through my mind and I was just stunned by how much can change so dramatically in less than a year. I wish I could tease Linda one more time...tell her I love her. I wish I could send Rachel a hummingbird photo and read one of her sometimes hilarious accounts of her battles. As I said, forever the two of them will be linked....a sister by birth and a sister by heart. If my earthly life has been so blessed, can you imagine how blessed Heaven is?
