My leukemia's back.

Good morning Team Rachel. I am slowly, but steadily getting things done. It's taking me longer than usual. I've been feeling sort of blah, since I had the flu. I'm over the flu, but just not running on all cylinders yet. Last night, Dh threatened to "clean' the kitchen. I pitched a fit. When I mentioned I had done a lot, he complained it was not really clean. Well, duh. I emptied out 3 more totes that were in the back room, filled with assorted kitchen stuff. I've had the dishwasher running steady, and done a lot by hand. So far, I've managed to find places to put all the stuff. He had this shocked look on his face when I told him that. He had no idea I had been doing all that. He thought I was just ignoring the kitchen, and not cleaning it. I'll have it caught up today, and back in normal order.

With your health issues, you should not be worrying about the perfect looking kitchen!

My Mom said, "Do you live there or just take picture of it?!"

If he doesn't see you do it, it wasn't done. :hugs

So sorry, because you are clearly running ragged.

Blooie, Your pup is BEAUTIFUL. I just LOVE IWH! Wonderful dogs, but I've only met 3 in my life! Your food bill is gonna go WAY up!

We sure like her, and believe it or not, because they are usually so low energy she eats less than our other dogs did. HOWEVER - I have never, ever seen a dog eat as fast as she does, and I raised, trained and showed big dogs for years, worked in 3 different kennels and 3 animal hospitals!! Never!! For instance, I am working on restraining her until I tell her it's okay to eat. So i snapped on her leash and put her on a sit/stay while holding on. Ken put her food in the bowl. I waited a few seconds and then released her. I went to the sink, washed my hands, and she was done. Yep. Done. Every kernel. I called her breeder and asked her if this was typical, worried of course about her eating so fast. IWH are prone to bloat. She said every owner who got puppies has had the same question, and yep, for them it's normal. They aren't food aggressive - Fiona isn't either - but she said she made the mistake of feeding the mom and the whole litter at once, and they quickly learned to gobble while it was there. She assured me that once she figures out she has no competition for food, she'd stop that but I don't think so. The other puppies went to their new homes at 8 weeks so it wasn't as ingrained a behavior as it is in our 17 week old pup. But she'll learn. She might be bigger, but I'm smarter and I have never let a dog dictate it's own behavior! That control is even more essential when you have a dog the size of a linebacker! :lau

@getaclue It's a guy thing, at the risk of being ostracized for discrimination. If men had to clean house daily they'd invent riding vacuum cleaners!

I'm sure he is capable of cleaning the kitchen. Like washing dishes and wiping down counters. Not sure what HE meant by "clean" the kitchen.

@Blooie - maybe if you gave her a portion of her food then waited 15 minutes and gave her more, repeat. She might get used to slowing down. When Samantha was eating too fast and barfing the vet suggested putting it in 2 bowls and that would slow her down. Kinda worked, not sure it would do anything for a dog though.

Her meals are always broken down into 3 meals, Bruce. Being a giant breed prone to bloat, feeding her free choice or in one big meal is asking for trouble. Right after I posted this it was feeding time, so I did a video. I was so impressed with how well she did - although she still ate pretty fast at least she took a breath once in a while and she's obviously learning what waiting until she's released means. The first few times I fed her I couldn't even get it all poured in because she was already "wolfing it down" (pun intended) and I couldn't get past her head. Today was the best she's ever done. Progress!!

Nothing is going to steal HER food! Are you SURE she breathed at all during that feeding frenzy?

DD1 taught her cat to sit before getting dry food. He would shove his face in the bowl before the food even hit it. And yes, as you would imagine, most of the food bounced off the top of his head.

Hummingbird! I was going to take a video of you but of course as soon as I got the camera ready it left.
