BTW for those who don't know Tom Hiddleston is "Loki" Thor's adopted brother in the Marvel Thor movies, and Avengers and so on., where he is truly menacing. In real life, he has curly hair and twinkling eyes., and a gentle demeanor.

sometimes it will travel underground following roots... long as there is fuel and air...

Light steady rain .... not enough to wash the soil off.... just enough to begin to soak in....

Trouble after drought and fire... If it rains hard the water just rolls off and takes anything loose with it... Leaving bare hillsideds and buried canyons or washed out communitys... miles away.

Flash flood warnings have been out here... ONe moment the stream bed will be dry... Next moment it will be three to four feet deep and flowing so fast you cant stand.... pushing trees and cars and debris a head of it like a siege engine. Next day it will be dry again.

We had a fire here a few years ago that burned under ground..... for a long time i I recall right it burned from spring clear till winter......
Can't imagine here one could last through the winter though. Three or four feet of melting snow I figure would put it out.

@Cynthia12 There was a new report that said a fire retardant bomber drop knocked a tree over that killed the fire fighter from Utah! Was that considered friendly fire?

At about 5:35 p.m. on Aug. 13, a Very Large Air Tanker, one of Cal Fire’s converted DC-10s or Boeing 747s, dropped a retardant load along Division C of the Mendocino Complex Fire in Mendocino County. Battalion Chief Matthew Burchett was killed by tree debris and three other firefighters received minor injuries, according to the report.

The incident was serious enough that Cal Fire issued recommendations for “immediate corrective actions.”...............Let's hope they do make immediate corrections!
