My leukemia's back.

My first Golden Retriever. Very old here. Loved my Grizz.

I know it doesn't mean it's out, but it was burning out of control, so contained is good. 44% is pretty good too.
Here the fires will keep burning until October. The big one is still moving north even though it is controlled at a low percentage. there are long term health risks from it.

Still, it is less likely to burn down more houses.

Just wanted to make sure that it is understood that even when a fire is 100% contained, it is not out.

sometimes it will travel underground following roots... long as there is fuel and air...

Light steady rain .... not enough to wash the soil off.... just enough to begin to soak in....

Trouble after drought and fire... If it rains hard the water just rolls off and takes anything loose with it... Leaving bare hillsideds and buried canyons or washed out communitys... miles away.

Flash flood warnings have been out here... ONe moment the stream bed will be dry... Next moment it will be three to four feet deep and flowing so fast you cant stand.... pushing trees and cars and debris a head of it like a siege engine. Next day it will be dry again.

That happened down by you last year? There were slides by Sonoma last winter too.

Fire is terrible!

Thunderstorms over the mountains always elicit flash flood warnings here... The most recent one was this weekend in Palomar mountain and the Lagunas... Just normal business as usual because the fires happend about twelve years ago I believe.

Same happens wether its fire related or just desert related. Dry soil Sheds water much quicker than moist. Not to mention The grasses not being there... Our hills are 50 percent dead right now... Normally Dark Green Chaparal... Now is half Grey... Chaparal burns hot any way... But dead... crazy potential... And of course we build in the burn zones... Grass lands.

I hear there used to be a huge Cedar forest up around my house.... Burned in the twenties... Took out all of one species of cedar.... Except a small stand over by the railroad tracks.... One naturalist was amazed when He found eight trees on a friends property..
