My leukemia's back.

I hear you!

I have been bad and not doing my strength and flexibility exercises. I stiffen up when I do that and then have pain when I start back up again...which I did last night. I have some back pain this morning.

I need to get back into doing the exercises and stretches daily agaiin
I need to do something.... Morphine is okay.... But my real issue is imflamation and cuz I can't take NSAIDs because of Chronic Kidney disease.....I have to use Narcotics..... But you know they get a bad wrap. I've used them for decades and never became an addict..... It's seems some people are just preprogrammed to have issues..... If something effects me too much I will stop. Haven't drank in a few years now. And that was more for my wife than me.
I quit so she could.
Prednisone helps a lot.....I tried to stop taking it.... Because my lungs have been much better recently. But the pain gets exetreme.

Good morning, Team. Kinda rough today, but I'm rougher. Today would have been Linda's birthday. I don't miss her as much as I was afraid I would - I miss her 10 times more! Yesterday I had the phone in my hand to call her and tell her that Tam finally closed on her new house. I do that all the time!

Kendra's down hard with her first UTI since her stomach surgery 2 years ago. Jen took her to the ER Sunday morning, and it took a Tylenol suppository to get her temp DOWN to 103.5. While they were working on Kendra, Jen dropped and had a seizure. Ken and I were in Cody, Kenny was working in Powell, so they took care of both of them until one of us could get there. Kenny beat us there, and by then Jen was resting with an IV in one bed and Kendra was curled up next to her with her antibiotic IV. Her temp was down to 100 by then, with the second suppository and a cool infusion in the IV. Jenny always has two seizures - the second one might be hours later but always two. Sure enough, later that night she had another one standing in line at McDonalds, who promptly demanded an ambulance. Kenny tried to explain that it wasn't necessary - that we all know exactly what to do and how to take care of her, but nope, the ambulance came. They checked Jenny's vitals, Kenny signed a release, and they came home. So I took Katie to school yesterday, brought the two sick ladies over here, then Tam and I left for Greybull for the closing on her house. What a day! But Kendra and Jenny slept most of the day - Ken was here with them - and Kenny came to pick them up at 4. Then I made supper for Tam, Evan, Ken and me. Tam and Evan cleaned up while I went to bed and I didn't wake up until about half an hour ago. I'm too old for this kinda stuff!!
I get it. Usually happens all at once, or, something happens for quite a few days in a row. I agree, getting to old for this. The kids are starting to realize now. Even Richard has stopped letting me know all that is going on, he doesn't want to bother\worry us, and, he wants to make sure he can really do this ... all.... on his own someday. He's doing pretty good. Bless his heart. Found out that he can get SS from his dads' SS.. and.. mine! What a wopping amount of money he has coming in from now on monthly. Ask me if that's a relief to me. :) Anyway, the other kids are finding that they are over to help us in some way or another now days with dad like he is, and my health having been down. I'm working on that though. Different things I can do to start feeling better. Glad that hectic day is over for you, and you got some sleep!

It is great that you have family to help!

Phil, there are 2 things I'm going to suggest. Wild lettuce, and ginger root tea. I'm not suggesting that either are miracle cures, but the wild lettuce contains natural opioids. No, it's not going to be as strong as something the doctor has prescribed, but is something you can eat steadily, and because of the way it's released in the body, it has more of a time release effect, so it's released steadily. The other thing, is ginger root tea. I like mine with a pinch of cinnamon, and honey. Do I think it's the best tasting drink on the planet? Nope. Some people actually like it. I'm not overly fond of it, but don't mind it. It's a very good anti-inflammatory. It takes time for it to work. A cup of tea in the morning, and one in the evening will do the trick, but as I said it takes some time for it to work.

When going through the worst part of chemo, the peripheral neuropathy gets really bad. It damages the nerve endings. The first time I went through multiple sessions of chemo, there were times I'd scream because of the pain. I woke up many nights screaming in pain. Yes, I had strong opioids to take, but would only take them when I couldn't bear the pain anymore. The second time I went through multiple doses of chemo, and oriental friend of ours began making me some ginger tea, and gave me ginger candies from the Asian market. I humored her. After a couple weeks, while I still got bouts of pain, I could take ibuprofen, and keep the pain tolerable, without having to resort to opioids very often. Yes, I still had some pain, and yes a few times it got bad enough I had to take a stronger pain medication to control it, but not like the first time. Am I sure it was the ginger root tea? YES! If I missed a couple days, within 3 days, I could tell.

Yes, I know your inflammation is not nerve ending damage, but the ginger root works on multiple types of inflammation, so it might reduce some of yours.
