Dh loves St. Patrick's day. It's our anniversary too. A friend of Dh was sending him live videos of one of the larger local Irish Pubs. It's where we went to celebrate after we got married. We haven't been there the past couple years. For St. Patrick's day, this particular pub has a company come in several days before St. Patrick's day, and put up barricades around the entire parking lot. They bring in a couple Semi-trailers that fold down into band stages, and put one on each end of the parking lot. They bring in various large tents too. They keep 5 stages of music running full time. They rent the parking lot across the street for parking. It holds 1200 cars. It's normally very crowded. They have to start clearing out, and barricading off the route for the Fife, and Drum Corp a couple hours before they march, to get everyone out of the way. This year, there is hardly anyone there. It's dead.

I went to a few stores today and was surprised by the big displays of St.Pat's Day offerings. It didn't look like people had bought any. Maybe it's like after Xmas - they wait for the clearance prices and then stock up for next year.

Hope we aren't running out of Irish folks, the former neighborhood had several families. They were the nicest people on the block. Used to baby sit for the Duffy family. I lived only about 3-4 houses down the block but, Mr.Duffy always walked me home.

That sounds like good memories!

Like I said, we didn't go. Haven't gone there in at least 2 years. Our lifestyle has changed. Today we spent the day doing a Terminator marathon. My grandson has never seen The Terminator. We all decided it was a fine day to cure that. We got our chores done this morning, and there was really nothing pressing that had to be done. We watched the first 2 movies, have eaten supper, and in a bit, will start watching the last 2 movies. I LOVE doing stuff like that occasionally.

Used to baby sit for the Duffy family. I lived only about 3-4 houses down the block but, Mr.Duffy always walked me home.

I'm sure it was for 2 reasons, if something happened and you didn't want to rat out the kids in the house were they may hear or something that may scare them, like a peeping tom that got spooked off he could be told on the walk home, and also God forbid something happened to you those 2 or 3 houses you walked passed he likely would have wished he was dead that he didn't walk that short pitiful distance to make sure you were safe...

Thanks for the anniversary wishes. Yes, we ate some cookies. I have no idea why it was so empty. Many of the places were saying the same thing. No huge crowds like normal. I know there were more home type parties than usual. We were invited to several. That may account for some of it.
