My leukemia's back.

Grampas have their own sets of rules, don’t they? :lau Ken would have fixed them Coco Puffs, too.....and a handful of cookies for dessert!
This is a fun conversation since yesterday, I'm told by our son, something that happened when he took dad out for a hamburger and malt. Son had our grandson with him. They aren't far into starting their meal when Grandpa starts passing a little straw bit of shake over to grandson. He's saying, one for you, one for Grandpa, one for you, one for Grandpa. Son has to say, alright Grandpa, I think that's enough. Chuckles about it. Soon son has to get up to go get more sauce for something. He returns to see Grandpa hurrying to get more ice cream into grandsons mouth. He looks up at our son and says, chuckling...you got back too fast. Grandpa is getting a big kick having our grandson living with us. Having our son and daughter to in law here has been such a big help..in many ways. Having our son taking dad out for a hamburger is just one thing. Getting a bit of alone time was ok for me. Having conversations with them is another. Good kids.

When the grandbaby was 2, Dh had to go get some tires. Off he goes with the grandbaby. He's taught her to appreciate that new tire smell. IHOP was within walking distance, so they went to get breakfast while his tires were put on. In the meantime, I noticed he forgot to take any Pull Ups, so I headed to the tire store, and they directed me to IHOP. I slid in their booth. They had just been served their breakfasts. He got chocolate chip pancakes, with extra chocolate syrup, sprinkles, and whipped cream for the grandbaby. I commented that was a LOT of sugar for her.

That's when I notice the extra kids breakfast sitting there. Two slices of bacon, a scrambled egg, and toast. I asked about it. Had I not shown up, he was going to finish his breakfast, take a few bites of the extra one, have them put it in a to go container, and bring it home, presenting it as what was left of her breakfast. That way we'd never have known about the chocolate chip pancakes, with extra chocolate syrup, sprinkles, and whipped cream.

Yes, grandpas play by their own set of rules.

My friend Jerry is no longer suffering. I received a call this morning that he had died during the night. I knew it was imminent as he sent me the registration papers on the pups that I am raising for him. I had hoped to see him this weekend. :(

Bittersweet day today - I ran Jerry's dog that I have been training at the field trial, and she won. Last we spoke he was counting on being there. :(

You did it! I'm betting you looked up and said something similar...we did it. :hugs
Everyone knows the story - Jerry was a friend of all of us, and they were all saying, "He's here seeing it." But I couldn't see him.
I went off by myself and cried a little bit. I'll see his family on Tuesday, and will most likely become emotional again when I present them with his ribbon and win money.

Jerry always used to call me 'Squirrel'. I asked him why, and he said, "Because you're a squirrely little bugger." I replied, "But no one else calls me 'squirrel'." His reply - "Because they are scared of you. I'm not." :lau
