Rachel, if you are not pleased with the care, or lack of it with your local PA, you need to make a change. I have fired docs before, and will do so again, if the need arises. Last time I fired a doc, I was scheduled to fly in a few days, and they were too busy to see me for an ear infection. I kept calling back and getting the run around from the office staff. The last time I called, the receptionist said, "We're too busy to deal with this. We're seeing patients." This is the same office that previously sent me a very nice letter telling me that my mammogram was normal. I was scheduled to have it the next day! Then, there was the time I sat in the Orthopedic Surgeon's office for 2 hours waiting for my second post op visit. I finally went to the receptionist, and told her I was leaving. She offered to reschedule me. My response: "No thanks, you can just tell him that he'll have to write my discharge without seeing me."HB--I'm a fan of the big Z all the way. Amazingly enough, when they gave me a 2 week course (yep, 2 weeks of Zithromax!) when I left the hospital last time, my cough and other respiratory symptoms resolved. Finished the med, and they gradually came back. Shocker.
The more I'm thinking it over, the less pleased I am with the care I've been getting locally. I'm not quite sure how to broach changing providers. I would mean driving to Medford, just 30 min down the freeway so no biggie really. I just feel this particular PA has dropped the ball more than once, and there's no confidence there. I'll see how things go at this week's appointment.
I may just suck it up and drive to Portland once a month or so, to alternate with the trips they make down here. I don't know.
