Yeah, I know how you grandparents are...it just kills you to have to share grandkids pictures with anyone.

Good morning! Just checking in. Hoping everyone is doing good. Rachel, good to hear about the pork. Awesome score for the freezer! DH and I have thought about pigs, but on 3 acres, we'll pass for now. Just have too much going on.

@Blooie , very cute video of Kendra. You can tell she is very determined. That's awesome. Thanks for sharing.

Have a good day everyone.

Good morning JWB and Team!

It's been raining off/on since last evening...the mosquitos love it. DH just headed out for another job interview, it's 2+ hours from here so he had to get an early start. I got all the animals started for their day. I think the changing sun up times are confusing them; 1/2 the chickens went out to the run when I opened their doors and the other 1/2 are still snoozing on the roost. 1 of the goats was bawling for breakfast and the other 3 were still asleep.

I'm off for my 2nd cup of coffee, will check in on you all later. Have a good morning!

HB--I'm a fan of the big Z all the way. Amazingly enough, when they gave me a 2 week course (yep, 2 weeks of Zithromax!) when I left the hospital last time, my cough and other respiratory symptoms resolved. Finished the med, and they gradually came back. Shocker.

The more I'm thinking it over, the less pleased I am with the care I've been getting locally. I'm not quite sure how to broach changing providers. I would mean driving to Medford, just 30 min down the freeway so no biggie really. I just feel this particular PA has dropped the ball more than once, and there's no confidence there. I'll see how things go at this week's appointment.

I may just suck it up and drive to Portland once a month or so, to alternate with the trips they make down here. I don't know.
Rachel, if you are not pleased with the care, or lack of it with your local PA, you need to make a change. I have fired docs before, and will do so again, if the need arises. Last time I fired a doc, I was scheduled to fly in a few days, and they were too busy to see me for an ear infection. I kept calling back and getting the run around from the office staff. The last time I called, the receptionist said, "We're too busy to deal with this. We're seeing patients." This is the same office that previously sent me a very nice letter telling me that my mammogram was normal. I was scheduled to have it the next day! Then, there was the time I sat in the Orthopedic Surgeon's office for 2 hours waiting for my second post op visit. I finally went to the receptionist, and told her I was leaving. She offered to reschedule me. My response: "No thanks, you can just tell him that he'll have to write my discharge without seeing me."

It's nice to hear about so many around the country. I pray for all to have a peace filled day. We are all sleepy here as we sat up watching the lunar eclipse last night.

Usually by now we are preparing for snow. But this year we are still harvesting the garden. Nicest September we had in a long time in northern Michigan.

I've been wanting to find out more about this stem cell transplant...I believe it's a different thing then the bond marrow transplant that I went through (although similar) in 1997.

I hope there are a lot less long term issues also. Don't get me wrong I'm really happy to be where I am but my body has paid a price.

I really new at this forum thing so please be patient. Im just trying to lend another ear of support.

....Phil

Phil, I'm not sure how much different the stem cell is vs the bone marrow, for the recipient at least. I know the stem cell is a heck of a lot easier on the donor! Just a large bore IV to collect blood and they're done, no bone marrow extraction.

I know overall I've done amazingly well, I just get frustrated. I wanted to "get back to normal" after the transplant, and I'm slowly realizing my old "normal" is gone for good.

I'll keep you in my prayers...I wasn't able to go back to work for 4 years. Because I suffer from graft vs host. But I felt pretty good after about a year. The Dr recently told me I had what he called a primitive marrow transplant. So I assume they are better at them these days.

And when I said doctors were scary smart....most of the once I dealt with were. I live in the middle of no where so I have to drive 40 mile just to see a doctor so I always had a hemotologist as my regular Dr through it all.
And I had to cross the Mackinac bridge and drive 550 miles to U of M for my weekly appointments. But those people were scary smart...glad those days are over.
Hang in there it is so worth it..... Phil
