My leukemia's back.

Been there, done that. Try simmering vinegar and water in it. But don't forget about it..
Tried vinegar with water...some result...I now have a rainbow coloured bottom to the saucepan..I will try again tomorrow....so....it is now Rainbow Friday...! Thanks for the handy hint...

As an aside I was blanching some cauliflower and simmering the water and vinegar solution...my Husband walked into the kitchen and promptly telephoned a restaurant to see if we could eat out tonight.... no luck...he has suffered my cooking...steak, broccoli and stilton cheese and fried potatoes...as I write this he is still alive....we are eating out tomorrow evening!

So glad you are smiling...my Husband is squirming in the dining room...well...as I said...he can try cooking...his idea of eating when I am hospitalised is to telephone friends to get a decent meal or eat biscuits...luckily he has a plentiful supply here...!

I could do with a decent meal...so the restaurant is booked for Saturday evening....my saucepans are relieved..!

Suzie,
That is funny about your pans! If it's any comfort here's good pan story for you: We homeschool. My oldest daughter was Taking an outside science class. It was required for her final to do a science experiment and write it up. So she finally decides to make a homemade smoke bomb- unbeknownst to me!

I am not home the first few times she attempts this. One day I come home to find several of my really good pots blackened with unknown char. Get them cleaned up and use them for dinner. A few days later I walk in to find her attempting to create a smoke bomb (again). Then suddenly the whole pot explodes catches fire and smoke bombs the house completely! After my recovering and checking to make sure no was around to call the police or fire department, we air out the house and I find my only noncharred pan sporting a new fire hardened color.

It had to be tossed. The others after years of use are finally back to a rainbow steel color. She learned a lot from that experiment and we had a good laugh after. But I don't miss those type of projects!
One of my favorite products for blackened pans is Setting it with water to boil to loosen things up then using Barkeeper's friend- a powdered soap- on it. Usually takes several rounds of this to bring back to semi silver in color and after a few months of use it looks pretty normal.

This year we went over to my oldest daughter, her husband and my oldest son's townhouse (housing is very expensive here!!) for Thanksgiving! What a joy to walk in and see them both cooking! It was a relaxed time a being together. We actually had warm weather of 70~. Amazing. Today it was similar so went on a short hike with my middle DD. My youngest is extremely excited as she has been invited not to one but 2 birthday parties this weekend! (I can count on one hand how many she has been to in her 13 years.) So grateful for this as she is very social and longs to be part of things. So back to making/cutting/tying together a polar fleece Disney princesses blanket for Sunday's party!!

The bales were $8 at TSW??? Oh man... I did Black Friday shopping from my bed and then ran to Petsmart for their fish sale and also found 50% off Pur Love dog bones! Stocked up on those! Left a couple of bags on the shelf! Paid $30 and saved $36. Fish were about 66% off on the ones I bought. Now I can go downstairs to watch "fish t.v." to chill for a few minutes every day. (Phil, no fishing allowed!). Did't realize how much I missed it. It was my reward for ripping out and decluttering the basement family room. Fully filled my friends car with donations!
This week we begin to ramp up for Julia's heart cath with a pre-op visit. Will try to stop back. Will try to post one photo of her at the sleep study center. She looked like a mummy! Before leaving she said "No Sharps?? Mommy, No sharps!" Thankfully I was able to say,"Yes, No sharps just sticky like when we check your heart." Little did I know that they now mummify them so that the cords don't get tangled and so they can't pull off the sensors!

Hopefully her procedure goes well....and you all can rest easier....10 degrees here...hope the ducks Are doing okay. I went out at midnight and turned the heat lamp on in ducklings pen. It doesn't do much but at least gives the area a slightly warmer place for them to sleep. I don't turn it on much but the temp dropped fast today do I thought it might make them a little more comfortable tonight.
Once we get a couple feet of snow on the ground I can bank around the shed that they are in and that will help allot.

Good morning!

Hbh, hope Julia's procedure goes well. Let us know, ok? Good buys at PetSmart...what kind of fish did you get? I'm glad to hear you had a relaxing Thanksgiving!

Phil, I've forgotten, what kind of ducks do you have?

Khaki Campbell's

Good egg layers, right? Are they friendly?

I want to try ducks next year but I'm really confused on what to get, how many, male/female, etc. Guess I have some time to think it over but every time I read something about 1 breed and think that's the way to go, I hear about another one and think that's what to try. Decisions, decisions, lol.

They were breed to lay eggs...they are egg laying machines....mine are real friendly but the breed isn't known for being pets. I just think mine are because in continually handling, spoiling them. Mine are very people orientated if we aren't home they go hang out with my neighbors. My little girl likes to be picked up and cuddled.
(Or maybe she just tolerates it).
My ducklings not so much...but they do settle down once picked up. And I think it's just a matter of time...it took a while for my big ducks to get settled to the idea.
You only need drakes if you want ducklings....other wise just hens....my hen gives me an egg most days.
I kinda think I want runners.
Oh I recommend not getting more than one drake. As because of the whole dog killing half my ducks this summer. I am having issues because I have two adult drake's and only one hen....hoping the four little girls I add in solves that or one drake will have to be dealt with.
And my wife said I can't kill it and eat it...so that means finding it a new home. Although I warned her any ducklings we hatch out next year are not to be pets and will be eligable for the freezer.
I ordered my ducklings from mcmurray hatchery they have an online catalog with lots of ducks in inventory.
