My leukemia's back.

When you say ordering chicks do you mean eggs? I would love an incubator! I am going to talk to a friend that's a teacher up at the lake and see if they have an interest in doing a chick project. This way when they hatch the students can take em and they'll go to ranches. Gonna deal with the cable company to get internet at my cabin so I can have a camera on gunieas. The cable stops 300 feet short to deliver me internet. Ugh. Rib better today... Decided against going to dr.

Our plan is to move this spring/early summer. We don't have a place picked out yet, we're just now getting the down payment saved. I didn't work at all last year (kinda busy otherwise, ya know) and between school and taking care of me, Honey didn't work very much. So, our tax return is pretty nice. Plus, he worked some major overtime last month. We're pretty much at what we need for our loan, and will probably start talking to a Realtor in the next few weeks. I need to get things firmed up with the bank about getting pre-approved.

What kind of chicks do I want----it's more like, what kind don't I want

? I'm usually a MMM customer and was thinking about ordering their rainbow pullet pack. But then, I was looking at Meyer's site and they have a lot more unusual breeds, and the price is about the same for the rainbow pullet pack, so I may go with them instead. I'd keep the birds I wanted and sell off the rest.

I do have an incubator that's purposely in an inconvenient spot. I don't want to start incubating yet, but I'm thinking end of Feb might be a good time. I may also do a small batch of meaties then, they'll be ready end of April and that should be a good time to process. Mostly, it's a matter of space and mud.

Rachel, I'm getting my ducklings through MMM (got chicks from them in 2014). One reason I chose MMM over some of the other hatcheries was their shipping costs were better, at least to us here in FL.

Have you considered ducks? They're awful cute, eat lots of garden bugs and don't mind water/mud!

Oh, I've been having baby duck fever this year!

We've had ducks on and off over the years. Honey just loves them. Our last batch was probably 6 ? years ago, and then we had a hatch the next year. Anyway, we're down to one solitary, elderly drake who is I think 6 years old. He just hangs with the chickens. He used to be the top dog in the coop, but this last year he's lost his mojo and the hens literally steal food from him. I feel kind of sorry for him, but he's just hanging one. I've thought about ordering ducks, I'm liking the gold star sex links for egg production. I'm not sure I would want meat ducks, I've heard they're a pain to process. But duck eggs are wonderful for baking! And, they're just cool birds to have around. Honey's really wanting a pond at our new place, so ducks would fit in nicely. I also like the blue Swedes, they're so striking colored.

What are you ordering?

I'm really sorry you are going through this. In addition to chemo please be aware there are many natural remedies that can help you heal and feel better. I am making batches of Aloe Arborescens distillate right now for a relative, because it is supposed to be very powerful medicine, and help with chemo.

Our gut flora and beneficial microbes are the most important part of our immune system, and are damaged by drugs. Diet and lifestyle changes are the most important things you can do to fight cancer. OHSU is a great hospital and I'm sure you have excellent doctors but modern medicine is largely ignorant of how our immune systems work and what causes disease.

I couldn't make up my mind on breed so I'm getting a mix:
2 Khaki Campbell
2 Blue Indian Runners
1 Blue Swedish
1 Pekin
1 Buff
1 Hybrid egg layer
1 Cayuga
1 Welsh Harlequin

I'm just doing it for the fun, to keep the bugs out of the garden & yard and eggs. I'm so excited, this will be my first time with ducks.

And Phil is partly to blame (but it's ok)!

Can u give the link to MMM or Meyer? I'm still deciding what I want. If I can only have a few I might as well get something rare.

That's about how I feel today, Phil. I did get some phone calls made this morning and had a good talk with my Mom. Otherwise I was grocery shopping and running errands and I was gone all blessed day.

I did place an order with Meyer hatchery, though, for my anniversary chicks

. I'm getting 25 of the rainbow pullet pack in early March. Still not sure where I'm going to put them all, but I've got 6 weeks to figure that out......

So my blood sugar on Friday was over 400. Now they want me to come in for a fasting level. Really? I don't care what a person has eaten, a blood sugar of over 400 is way to freaking high. And I'm not eating that much garbage. yeah, I can cut back on the carbs, but it's pretty clear to me I'm going to need some help until I get down on the prednisone more. So, I'll go in tomorrow and we'll see how things look. grrr.
