My leukemia's back.

Thank you all!

For my friend Phil, I have a question for you. Did you have gvh in your joints, was that the cause of your pain issues? How do they tell if it's gvh instead of just joint pain? My knee is flaring up and I'd just thought it was a previous injury but then it occurred to me it may be gvh. But it's only the one joint. I'll talk to the doc on Thurs, just wanted to see what your experience has been.

Rachael....I don't really know if I had G vs H in my joints....the pain issues I have are related to chronic inflammation on my tendons....major injuries to them as well....I have degenerative joint disease as well....that could be from long term prednisone use....I need the prednisone to breathe well but it tears my joints up as well....:/
My G vs H was primarily in my liver.
Although it was every where in the beginning. I was lucky enough not to need any anti rejection drugs by the time I was two years out.
Your on my mind all the time Rachael I really hope you can some day be free of the prednisone. I still have difficulty understanding what is going on with your lungs....my issues are asthma related....I was struggling to breathe while it was sub zero out....even when I was inside....I don't get it....now that it warmed up to the twenties I'm alright...at least as alright as I get.
I will admit prednisone is a curse...but we're dang lucky we have it.
I know that morphine also is a curse....but with out it I'd sit around all day in pain....well what the Heck...we're still here. I'll live with the curses.
If your knee keeps bothering you get it checked. But I would think the prednisone would be at least controlling the G vs H......tell your kid to get that smoker done. I want to hear about the wonderful meals your gonna make with all that Apple wood....your friend always...Phil

Oh, 48! Congrats to you both. Truly inspirational.

thanks for the info, Phil. I wasn't sure how the gvh went with the joints. I get these pamphlets from the Be the Match foundation with information on what I should be looking for and sometimes it's just confusing.

I've felt pretty good on the 15 of prednisone for a few weeks now. After the biopsy I may look into dropping it a touch again if things are going okay. I need to check with the team about the plan for the immune suppressants, we've not talked about how long I'm going to be on them or when to do a trial decrease.

I think I'll try working on getting the big incubator back out to get fired up. I've had a few folks asking when I'm going to have chicks available. Can't disappoint my customers, now, can I

Okay, It is hitting me as bad as it gets.. I want to incubate chicks and chicken math is overtaking me. I can have only hens! Anyone know about the hatching ratio from female to male chicks? I am about to purchase a dozen eggs of 4 different heritage breeds and put them in an incubator of another local chicken friend. She just bought a cabinet incubator and had it delivered to a friend's house so the man of the house wouldn't see the invoice!
