My leukemia's back.

Happy Easter everyone!

We're having overnight blueberry French Toast and bacon for lunch. Dinner will be ham, asparagus, cheesy taters and ....not sure what else. Didn't do a lot of planning for dinner this year.

Service this morning was beautiful. We're usually in the front row, but today were way in the way back. The music wasn't loud enough

but God still heard us, I'm sure. We found a couple that are travelling physical therapy folks who are contracted to the Home Health agency Honey's working for, so were able to sit with them and visit some after service.

25 egggs made it to lockdown. I'm saving Marans eggs to put in after these are done. Candled the duck eggs, they're at two weeks. I don't think they're doing anything but I'll give them another week or so. I've never incubated duck eggs.

Happy Easter Everyone! We actually ended up with 1.25 hours that most could be together at the restaurant were my DH works as a balloon twister. And we were on time for once. My Dh finished on time so we were all together for a half hour! Totally a mini miracle!
So far 3 chicks have hatched out of 14 eggs. One is an Olive egger and 2 are from blue eggs!

Nothing from the Bielefelders or Jubilees. Was really hoping we were wrong about the jubilees.

The hawk killed the one we had last week and it was finally laying eggs at 6 months!

Silentwayne, Don't be to silent! Welcome to this group!

Phil, you caramelize slices of Granny Smith apples with brown sugar and cinnamon in a cast iron skillet for 5 minutes. Take them out, wipe out the pan, and mix the batter in a bowl. Melt butter in the skillet, put the apples back in, then pour on the batter and bake. German Pancake!
The sides rise up around the middle like a taco salad shell , but not that high of course.

I've got a dozen of my own duck eggs on the bait right now...they are doing great...hopefully I won't screw it up...as I've never hatched anything before. But at 8 days I got real nice veining on the few I've actually candled.

Hope yesterday was as good for you all as it was here. I plan the menu, the cleaning schedule, who is coming, who is not, even down to the fact that I make sure I have time for the chickens & rabbits......then, the time comes for the celebration and its hurry, scurry, rush, run! :weee

Lemon bars did not set up properly.....so, after everyone left, I heated the oven to 350F, and had full intention of turning it off.....well, the neighbor's dog was chasing our old rooster Captain Hook, so DD ran inside screaming. So, I threw on my shoes, ran out to "rescue Captain Hook". Got all the chickens back to the coop, ran back to the house to put on my barn boots, because, well, we might as well go ahead and feed them.......

Fed & watered all, then, it was SO nice out, decided it was a great day for a walk. Went walking down the street, came back an hour later. My brother & his girlfriend had come back to the house at this time. DH was sitting on the back porch talking to them. The house smells Wonderful! Kind of lemony....KIND OF LEMONY!. You know it....those poor lemon bars looked like burnt brownies. Maybe next time:D

Time for work. You all have a good day:D

Ohh, lemon bars

. Sounds great! Yours would go with my split pea soup from last week--burnt and burnter.

I think I have a few pips on my eggs, but I'm trying to keep my hands off and the lid on.

Honey's truck sprung a leak of something, he's leaking diesel apparently. So he's taking my van to work today and I'm homebound. Not that I needed to go anywhere, it's just weird knowing I can't.
Hopefully some nice weather and I'll get some chicken pens cleaned out.

Our pig supplier's sow finally gave birth this weekend--13 little bacon seeds! They're so adorable. Hard to believe the're going to get so big so fast. We've got 4 reserved to grow out between ourselves and a friend. She'll have another litter in July, and we'll probably pick up a few then. We do love the pork, and can usually sell off one or two and make most of our money back.

Wishing everyone good health and sunshine!
