My leukemia's back.

I've not had skunk attack, but I'd not trust one. It's been skunky at night here for the last 2 nights. Wish they'd clean up the 2 yellow jacket nests I've found. One is in my green house, in a bag of leaves. I need to get into the green house to ready it for fall planting.

We are HOME!

They didn't really find a reason for his symptoms. They're thinking asthma component, treating with steroids and albuterol. He had a good response to the albuterol with the lung function test, so that may be. It just doesn't seem like any asthma I've dealt with before. He as an appointment with his PCP tomorrow and should be getting in with the lung Dr as an outpatient. I'm going to call and see if he can see the same guy I see, I really like him. So, they've got him on enough steroids he's feeling like he can take on the world, bless his heart. And I just need a really good night's sleep with my Honey!

Outpost, skunks will indeed take out chickens. I don't know about grown birds, but a friend had major ( Honey says 75 birds altogether) losses of young pullets last spring to a skunk So, gear yourself up for trapping one (or more), and hopefully that will take care of the problem.

Thanks so much all for the prayers and support. I was good at first, but when they transferred him out of Peds to Intensive care, I had a moment where things were simply so scary.......not where I want to be again! Thank you Lord for answered prayer.

The flip side is he and I got to spend a lot of time together. And I got to get a lot of crocheting done on my friend's baby blanket.

Honey missed me so much he finished the coop and run we were working on

. I moved Eric and his ladies to it tonight and they're figuring out how to use the ramp and the small coop, it's kind of funny to watch little chicken brains at work.

What good news about your son. I do hate when they can't pinpoint the problem. Just got my bill from March in the mail last month where they ultimately said "bronchitus, sinusitis, and allergies". Took me forever to get better. Bill is over $1,200. Even after insurance paid their part & I paid a $100 copay! They did do a chest X-ray. But I was only there 20 minutes!

I will keep my eyes peeled for skunk and any other predators.

I wonder if it all didn't start about a week ago. My breeder buck rabbit (named Pig) died last week:(. I buried him best I could, but ground is hard & dry. Something has dug him up twice.....Let my rabbit rest in peace! His original owner was here over the weekend. Said he had no idea how old he was, but Rob had him for a few years and we had him over 3 years. This was him a few years ago.

You all have a good day. Rachel, I pray that big boy continues to get better:D

Rachel, glad Big Boy is doing better. Asthma to drop sats that low is very scary. You might consider allergy testing for him.

JWB: those insurance bills are incredible. My last ER visit with CP brought on by eating restaurant food, I refused the CXR when they told me it was to RO pneumonia. They were none too happy, but, I decided that since my lungs sounded clear, and my heart rate had stabalized and EKG, bloodwork, and sats were good, I was good to go! Bet they hate patients like me!

When I dig a hole, it helps to soften the ground with some water first. Then use a pick axe. I go for the softest, most rock free place I can find, and have several chickens buried in my lawn. It helps to wait till dusk to dig those holes, just to keep the neighbors from asking too many questions. If you have a flat rock you can place over the body before piling on the soil, that helps. Then I cover the burial site with wire, and toss some rocks on top of that, or an old tire for a couple of weeks till the ground bugs and bacteria have time to do their job. Those spots grow good grass.

Tam's car broke down so she's using one of ours. It's Ken's travel-for-lodge-and-work-car. So she came over for coffee yesterday and yelled at her dad.

"You trying to get me arrested and locked up for life? Sheesh, Dad!" Ken was as puzzled as I was so she explained,

"I had to put a package in the trunk. When I finally figured out how to get into it (it has a hidden latch) I almost wet my britches! There's a gianormous wooden mallet, a shovel, duct tape, and a package of long Zip-ties back there! If you're trying to encourage me to be careful and avoid a traffic ticket, that'll do it!"

Morning.....glad to hear some good news.
Wow Racheal.....as bad as my breathing gets i don't think it's ever messed with my Blood Ox.....but I tend to have a hard time breathing without getting "short" of breath.
But yeah i would think allergy testing would be the first step....that's what I'm still waiting for.

Phil, have you got yourself on the cancellation list? They HAVE made the referral, haven't they? And, have you been called to schedule an appointment, no matter how many decades into the future they are booking appointments? I've had referrals get lost in the shuffle. Sometimes what has gotten me in faster is I've called back PCP and asked to see an other specialist. Then, I let the first specialist know that I'm on an other list. They hustle to get me in right away then. Oh yeah, I'm a bad patient.
