Rest in Peace -2017
Well, made it to the Grange and got shavings home. I was determined to work outside even if it was raining.....it started hailing! That was a deal breaker, I'm back inside with the wood stove. I can tell it's slacking off, I'll see about heading outside again here soonly.
I have a couple pens I need to set up. One will be my frizzled EE (I think) rooster Prince Humperdink
over barred rock hens, for black sex link frizzle EE/camo eggers.
Second will be my blue barred blue egger rooster Tom over my blue, blue egger hens, for black/blue/splash, 50% barred blue eggers.
Marans pen, with my black coppers, my single blue copper, and probably my two hatchery cuckoos. I have two nice blue copper cockerels I'll have there, Athos and Porthos. I think that will be the main coop, so I'll leave any miscellaneous hens there as it will have the most space. I think all that will be left are my Leghorns and the speckled Sussex. I'll probably alternate the Leghorns with the Marans roosters, and Tom for SBELs. I'm very interested in seeing egg color in a pullet that is a mix of Leghorn and Marans, if the Leghorn dilutes the Marans egg color or not.
they had chicks at the Grange today, and I didn't buy a single one! I was tempted by the Brahmas and the silkies, but decided to hold off. It's just so wet here, and I need to remember to go slow.
Ohh, sunshine! Need to get back outside!
