My leukemia's back.

Exercise: My biggest problem/fear with the increased histamine load is that I get exercised induced anaphylaxis. I also get it if something hits my funny bone just right and I laugh real hard. It stinks. I just have to wait it out.
I have the elliptical all dusted off and waiting on me. and several play lists ready and waiting.

I have to get my husband's okay first. I am the one with the problem, but the parts of this condition that I ignore -he is paying attention to. He is like one of those medical alert dogs, but he also puts out the garbage and does dishes.
He can tell me when I am not feeling well before I realize it. I get tunnel vision when I am on a task and I just want to get my work done, then I go beyond the point of easy return.
He really is a good guy.

Someone gave me a tiny bit of a plant almost 2 years ago and this is what it has grown into:

Is this a ginger plant? The cone thingies showed up for the first time this year...started off green, got a few little white flowers, then slowly turned red.

And just this morning, we got our first of the year Camellia blooms! The 3 bushes are covered with buds...these are some of my favorite yard plants.

That is a ginger, it is called pine cone ginger and it is more ornamental. It grows really well down here. The eating ginger is officinalis, and it is not as attractive to look at. The flowers are small, close to the ground and rather unremarkable.
The pine cone ginger used to be used in shampoos.
I've never tried using them for that.

Thanks for the info Eggsy! A neighbor told me the same thing about the cones being used for shampoo. I'll have to check that out. Right now I'm just enjoying seeing them grow.

I dug mine up and put them into pots. They make a really nice potted plant. I had it in the herb garden, but it was not behaving like yours.
Mine was running everywhere.

The camellias reminded me of a friend who bought a house and wanted to cut down those shrubs. We were yelling "NO!!" and flailing our arms and running around in circles.
We made him promise to wait until after the camellias bloomed and then he could sell the ones he did not want.
We lost touch with him so I do not know what happened. They don't grow all that fast. His must have been 30 years old.

Enough of this computer/coffee/chit chatting. I gotta go do something productive. I don't know what exactly... Even the dogs are snoozing. It's a grey day.

Anaphylaxis Bad. Don't go there.

Honey and I have evolved into that sort of relationship since I was diagnosed also. yep, I'm the sick one, but he's the one that has to deal with the fallout if I don't pay attention or overestimate what I can do. So I've learned to listen to him.....most of the time. I'm a slow learner

. We're pretty blessed to have men like this in our lives.

Finished with the garage yesterday. Had planned to work on the office building today, but he just got called into work. For truth, I'm a little glad. I could use a day off! I've got some paperwork type stuff and phone calls that have been needing to get done, that will be today.

HB, I may not be as bad as you with the alcohol, but I'm sure a lightweight. I remember back when Honey and I were dating, we went camping and he brought some booze, thinking it was going to make the night friendlier. I'd never drank before, at all....I wound up walking around and around the campfire, just staring into the flames, mesmerized. And with a definite "don't touch me" attitude....so much for the friendly

. Yeah, we don't drink much around here.......

We were cleaning up the yard for a guy who had recently bought a house, and I remarked that his deck area was really going to smell good when all of the gardenias started blooming. In his clearly northeastern accent, he said, "gardenias? You mean those flowers that cost, like, 20 bucks apiece from the florist? Wow, these are them?" Yeah, these are them - I guess he'd never seen them growing before.
