My leukemia's back.

Rachel, you did it! I'm so glad that you did! And it's also good news that you had a relatively good outcome with your last appointment. Oh, sure, there are things like the liver enzymes and potassium levels that need some help yet, but when I think of where you were when I joined this thread I still love what I'm reading! Wonder if they've thought of Pulmicort for the inhaled steriod. Works really well for me ---- oh, wait! You have issues with thrush and/or mouth sores still sometimes, don't you? Maybe Pulmicort isn't the best choice.....unless every time you take a puff you can rinse or eat a yogurt! <sigh>

Yeah, I don't know why he specified Flovent. maybe cause it's old as the hills and cheap? IDK if it's any safer than the newer steroids or not, as far as I remember they all have thrush potential. Honey's on Advair and it's done a great job of controlling his asthma.

PFT got scheduled for Tuesday am, I'm happy it's so soon. I'm just tired of being tired, and coughing and gagging and retching is so attractive.

Gave cut and wrap instructions to the butcher today. We're getting the jowls smoked--is this just like bacon, does anyone know? What do I do with them?

Good morning everyone!

Rachel, I have no idea what to do with hog jowls, I've never had them. Now my brother would know...he's the guy that was so excited about making his first batch of head cheese the other day, he had to call me with all the gory details

You would think by the time a guy was in his 60's he would have had enough of grossing out his little sister but apparently that's something he'll never out-grow.

Yes, cook like bacon. You are making me HUNGRY

I'd love some fresh pork.

Weather has been **** here. Wonder every morning how many dead chickens I will have out there when I get home from work. Stinks.

Rachel, so glad you are doing better. I was noticing the other day that this thread is almost a year old

. You all have a good day.

Outpost, what's going on with your chickens? (Sorry if you've said already, this ongoing sinus headache is seriously impairing my ability to retain anything.)

Ohhhh. Yeah, you use them for cooking with vegetables and baked beans,,, navy beans and jowls.
I sound like some southern girl or something. Florida is not considered southern unless you are from North Florida.
otherwise it is all northern transplants. My mom's family were here before electricity, but my dad's family was here before dirt, so the maternal side were considered Yankees.
Both sides looked down on one another.

It was a stressful childhood.

Eggsy, I was thinking about you this morning because I knew your family had been down here forever. I've been reading an old book called "The Barefoot Mailman", have you read it? It's fiction based on fact how in old FL they used to deliver mail by foot, walking up & down the beaches barefoot in the sand. This was back in the day when Miami and Palm Beach were shack "towns" and the rest of that part of the state was marshy and almost impenetrable further inland. Pretty interesting. If you think you'd like to read it when I'm done, I'd be glad to send it to you.

Yes! Grandma would tell me about Them. She was In Lake Worth then. All property on the ocean side of lake worth was Palm Beach, and the west side of the lake was Lake Worth.
My great grandfather had a fairey that would travel across the lake to Palm beach before the bridges were built.

PM me your mailing address and I'll get it off to you, probably in about a week.

That would have been fun to hear some of those stories. I've always enjoyed history and it's especially interesting when it's about the place where you live.
