Little girls are finally in their new pen

I have three adults on one pen....and four ducklings in this one. Still got some work to go. But I was having to bring them in every night and put them in a large dog kennel. Basically because my drakes are too aggressive. Now with then being in the pen next door I'm hoping they'll all get used to each other.I'm going to install a door in between pens so when the ducklings get bigger I can open it into a large pen.

Morning 41 here this morning looks like our extended summer weather is over. One of my ducklings has developed " angel wing " now I have to figure out how to correct it.

I seen a forum about this where you wrap the duck with bandage material for seven to ten days and cut the protein in its diet. I worry if this is practical as this bunch I got right now are way messier than the last. And its getting colder outside and I worry that the bandage would affect its ability to stay warm. Funny how its just the one duckling. but its also the one that's growing way faster than the others. I then wonder if I switched over from starter to grower too soon. Or if I shouldn't give so many treats. giving treats is a big highlight of my day. Or maybe this one duck is just a fast grower and there wasn't anything I could have done anyway. I guess I will just deal with it the duck wont never fly anyway so worst case she will be easy to identify. But for now I will back off the protein as much as I can......okay I'm done rambling....from the north.......Phil
@Little lake Phi I have found with the ancona and the silky we raised its easier to treat just the wing area and you really dont need a huge body wrap, just enough to keep the wing tucked to the body tight. we used an inch wide vetwrap on the body and found that sufficient so I think they can still keep warm, and it stays on fairly well, two or three days and its treated. There are links to treatment in the food section here https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/duckling-care-brooder-ideas

have a great day!

Thanks...I'm still wondering the cause....I thought too much protein but then I investigated and found my feed was low in protein. So I changed feed and bought vitamins.
When I looked at duck and geese starter it was even higher in protein. And they get a pretty deverse diet of snacks as well.....Phil

Frosty 31'here this morning...hope all are having a nice Saturday morning....me and the wife are heard to the local American Legion for fall craft show today. It's a small local deal we want to stock up on goats milk soap. And maybe pick up a few treats.....support our neighbors you
know...then I got a friend needs some electrical work done on his bobcat....what comes around goes around...it's all karma.....in the north woods......Phil

I thought I was spot on as well, I think it may be something they just get no matter how perfect we feed them to be honest.

Good morning everyone!

Rachel, try not to bring home all the poultry from the sale, leave some for others, lol. Phil, have fun at the craft show. Sally, what a nice good morning that was! Sour, stay out of trouble (or try to avoid it anyway)!
