We were talking on another thread about feeding the turkey carcass to the birds.....

Honey and I were cleaning blackberries out of the run, and while raking I found one of the plastic thingies that hold the turkey's legs together. Honey asked it that was the chicken's version of bondage games

. I told him I was breeding grey (blue) birds, after all. I may not have 50 shades yet, but who knows.......yep, we have gutter minds.

I got another chick today, a late hatcher. I'm so happy cause this is a female out of my cuckoo Marans, finally! her clutch I incubated in the summer hatched one pullet and five cockerels, and the pullet just up and died around 3 weeks old. Momma lays a decently dark egg for a hatchery cuckoo, and the father is my Eric, who is half Welsummer, so hopefully this little girl will lay a darker egg, just for some variety. There are two more eggs I'm holding out hope for, I think the rest are not going to hatch.

I've seen those sex link ducks at MMM, and thought about some. but Honey's the duck person, and he really loves the wild/mallard type coloring, so we'd probably stay with the Rouens.

I got our turkey cleaned up today, simmered up a nice pot of broth. It's bones for the girls tomorrow (don't tell them, it's a surprise).

As for the ducks, I'm 90% sure I'm going with the Khakis and the Blue Swedish, all hens, no drakes. I'm looking forward to having the ducks and DH is looking forward to some new building projects, lol. It's a real blessing to have a spouse that goes along with any of my poultry plans

I don't know...I'm thinking of trying to hatch some of my own....excited. I'd like to expand some how...I want rabbits. I thought about getting a couple of chickens and pheasants. I guess I'm kinda like you up in the Air right now.

We have rabbits...I much prefer the chickens. Chickens have more personality and I love their eggs (which are in short supply right now due to molting). DH pretty much handles our rabbits and that's fine with me. I don't hate them, I just like the birds much, much more

I just like eating them.....I used to get a ton of them hunting. But with all the predators theses days not so many any more.
