I don't knit, and to be honest, find the whole Christmas decorating thing to be a bother, but those ornaments are adorable!

We decided years ago things are much nicer if the boys and I do the tree when Honey isn't here. For some reason, decorating a tree was a huge stress/fight/drama in his house growing up, and he carried that over. It got to where I would rather skip the tree altogether than put up with him while decorating a tree. Then, stroke of genius---do it while he's not here! He was upset at first, but then realized he was happier not being involved. So, that's how we manage that. We'll probably get our tree up sometime this week. It's a tabletop size. We gave up getting a floor tree when we got Great Danes
. Plus, we don't really put many presents under it. Our boys are old enough we usually do a token gift and the rest is cash.
I also don't do much decorating for Christmas, or any other season. My folks never did either. The MIL did, and for a while I thought I should too, but I got over that pretty early in the marriage. Also got over the Christmas card thing. Again, my folks didn't do it and I don't see a lot of the point. I'm not much of a keep in touch person. I decided if Honey wanted to send cards to his family, he was more than welcome. I'd even buy the cards, I just wouldn't fill them out or keep a list of addresses. He never sent a single card. I guess now in the age of FaceBook, most Christmas cards have probably fallen from fashion.
I also wanted to be the mom who bought an ornament for the boys each year, labeled it with the year and gave them to the boy when he moved out. Yeah....I think each boy has like 4 ornaments. They're 16 and 14.
My poor boys are going to be in culture shock if they marry into families that are big holiday celebrators.
