Morning! Went and got labs drawn first thing at the new office (my hematologist's office moved over the holidays) and man does their set up need work! I'm so thankful for the phlebotomist that draws me there, though. He's always joking around but he's amazing at drawing blood. Seriously, I hardly feel him stick me. Folks new to the practice are a little taken aback by him sometimes, though. Like this am, he opens the door and calls my name, then says "I'm so glad it's you next. I've had three cups of coffee and I'm really shaky"
.
Eye Dr appt this afternoon to see if he can do anything about the constant tearing/watering of my eyes. I'm honestly amazed I haven't given myself an eye infection, but I've worked really hard not to touch my eyes.
I'm disheartened this morning, one of my point of lay pullets was dead in the coop this morning. It was my pretty little splash blue egger who hadn't even started laying yet. I was just watching her yesterday and thinking you couldn't get much prettier a bird than her. She had nice contrasting splash markings, a full beard and muffs, willow green legs, a nice rounded body with fluffy feathers. She was just so pretty, and I have no idea what happened to her. It looks like she simply fell over on the roost. I understand sometimes birds just up and die, and usually it doesn't upset me too much, but this one is getting to me. I've got one of the calico bantam Cochins who is also not doing well. I'm not sure if it's some type of deficiency or what is going on, but he's in the house with nutri-drench in his water and a place near the wood stove to stay nice and warm. Grrr.
Honey took his first turn at being on call this last weekend. It was nice for me, in that I got to talk him through some phone triage and I actually felt like a nurse again! Doesn't hurt to impress him with my experience, also
.
Hope everyone's staying warm. The boys apparently brought in some green wood or something, I haven't been able to get it above 68 degrees in here. I'm out to find some small dry wood and warm up my toes!
