LG...I'm okay...just dealing with my normal stuff...pain and breathing issues....I really want to drop my prednisone same as Rachael but everytime I do...stuff goes south.....everyone your way okay?

Well, we're still cattle-less

. Those little feeders were going for almost two dollars a pound, more than I was wanting to pay! The only other thing I was at all tempted by was a pretty gold laced Cochin hen

, but NO BIRDS FROM THE AUCTION!!!!!! Ick, ick, ick. she's probably perfectly healthy, but I'm not chancing things with all the hatching I want to do.

They ran through a huge old boar that was nine hundred fifty pounds. I think he sold for twenty dollars, something like that. I'm thinking, man, at that price that's a lot of dog food if nothing else! I can't imagine how much feed he'd eat each day just to keep going.

Rain again here. I'm realizing how much the weather effects my mood. Those sunny days I'm just ready to go and do and feel better. Wake up to rain and I just don't want to do anything, feel blah, etc. If nothing else, I've got some bananas that need to be made into muffins and church today, so that'll get me out of the house for a while!

I think I'm going to start unplugging the wireless router in the evenings. We're having a hard time getting the boys to do their chores in a timely manner and I'm tired of it. Seems like everything takes a back seat to the stupid computer games. Grrrrr.

It's supposed to be spring like this week hope so...love winter but also like it to be over at some point and I have tons of work to do.
Waiting for warm weather to get some hatching done....remodeling....gardening.....everyone have a great Sunday.....Phil

Check the settings in the router--A lot of them will allow you to block internet use by time.

We're all well now. Yeah, I can appreciate the double edged sword that is Prednisone! However, breathing is pretty important.

Good idea to not bring home any birds! As a matter of fact, might want to bleach your shoes! I hear you re: electronics. My 14 y.o. is an absolute grouch, and the homework is a never ending struggle. Having a team meeting at school tomorrow. Man, do I feel too old to be going through this! That old boar... would he have been worth buying simply to send off for processing? Or would he have been too tough and gamey?

Looking forward to warmer weather here this week also. Hoping for a few hours tomorrow so hubby can get me going with the chain saw. I want to cut up some more dead wood and extend the HK mound. I'd so love to get one terrace of it completed before planting season, and start the second terrace immediately after planting season!

I always hear the old boars are too tainted to eat. But then, I'm following a guy on another board that pasture raises hogs for a living. He's quit castrating his males all together. He says the taint is genetic and he's bred it out for the most part. I don't know if a dog would eat it or not, how much the taste would effect them. It's something I may have to try once we get our new place. We want to have a holding-type area where we can buy animals like that and keep them until the mobile butcher can come out. Hey, for $20, plus $55 kill fee, you can hardly go wrong. Like I said, if nothing else cheap dog or even chicken food if you've got the freezer space.

Homework's not too bad here, but the chores are killing me

Honey found out the Grange is having their Chick Days, which means three free chicks with the purchase of a bag of feed. I got three red sex links and three barred Rocks for buying a bag of starter and a bag of scratch. I may go back and pick up a few more.....but I have chicks coming next week. And, I'm getting out the incubator tonight and setting eggs tomorrow or Tuesday, so I shouldn't. But, but....free chicks!
