My leukemia's back.

It's an addiction Rachael....just how it is...sorry.....yes they should have E cigarettes available....patches do nothing for the "Habit" portion of the addiction...that's the hard part....if it wasn't knowbody who could make it after the 72 hour detox would ever go back...that psychological "rush"...I,, know I was a chain smoker in my 20's....if course 5 years after I quit I got asthma....
I agree but e cigs would be better....gives him that "cigarette break" experience.

Totally agree on e-cigs for outpatients, and for those quitting smoking, but if you are treating acute pneumonia you really don't want any particulates going into the lungs. Wouldn't be really safe around oxygen, either. I only said the patch can help while inpatient. It's also by prescription and covered by insurance, so available in hospitals.

It's a horrible addiction, and often patients choose to check out AMA (refuse treatment) instead of staying in just so they can go smoke. It's sad.

Friday....I honestly would say I would have refused treatment so I could smoke....
I'm sure that it had something to do with my wife raising to go on the ambulance the other day...because she kept asking if she could have a smoke first...and they kept saying "no"

I've personally had to deal with several....Cigarettes were probably the only true addiction I've had though....but I honestly tried to quit several times....but when I finally did it was without really trying hard anyway.....I just woke up one day and realized I had quit.....

Darn phone submitted without me..... Anyway I think God looked out for me....as several years later I would develop asthma and leukemia....and I probably wouldn't have survived a transplant if I still smoked

Phil, that badge looks mighty good on ya!!
What badge?????

Our rewards are not of this earth. Besides, we Are stronger than people that don't face the challenges that we do:D

Good morning all. Breakfast is a lot later than normal, but eggs and sausage patties are cooking up now:p
Amen! Without the challenges of this life, I fear that we would lack the compassion and the wisdom to help others face the same challenges.

I'm not sure about this. I feel that some people, by nature, have a natural empathy. Others regardless of their position or life experiences are naturally self serving, and no amount of adversity faced and conquered will change that. Go ahead, just call me a jaded old man.
