My leukemia's back.

We lived there for 6 years in the 60's because my dad loved worked for US Steel. He loved to travel, better pay and benefits, and gave me a really different childhood! Most girls played with dolls?make up? Dress up? I grew up climbing 75' mango trees to escapes from guests because I was painfully shy and enjoying running around outside all day as we had no t.v. or air conditioning. We did have Legos, cards, baby birds, dogs, pigs, a donkey, a macaw and fish at various times. Sometimes we snuck down to where the edge of the jungle was to play but you definitely kept an eye out for boas and poisonous snakes. We did go to the local clubhouse for swimming but more often than not played in the rain. When you were old enough you took horseback riding lessons until you were good enough to go out riding in the jungle or plains for 3-4 hours on Sat. You learned fast the hard way how to stay on your horse no matter what! If you didn't stay on, then you either ran smack into a huge downed tree, fell off a galloping horse onto hard ground or possible cactus or prickly tree/bushes or into a river. The horses were big, liked to test you, and consistently challenged you to see if they could throw or beat you off the saddle while full on galloping. No control meant big trouble and a wimpy horse the next several weeks. We often raced for several miles in the deep jungle. Huge felled trees were not uncommon. On rare occasions we had to race to beat the train when we heard it because we were on the wrong side of the tracks.

Wow, HBH, what wonderful childhood memories! I'd love to hear more any time you want to share. Very interesting to someone that had a normal, routine U.S. childhood.

I'm mad i had a really nice post written about your Amazon post.... And how I wished I had travelled but was glad that I hadn't... Cuz I figured it was best for my kids... Yada yada yada..... It was a good post but it was lost into the ether.... Thank you for sharing your story

I got my official numbers back from my physical at work. All my numbers are just off a little. Just enough for them to raise my rates. I will therefore have to pay an extra almost $100 per paycheck-every other week.
My choices are: change my body in a month, dispute the results, or to just accept it and pay. I was taking cough meds & told them that, so hoping that's why my sugar was high. In the meantime, I am walking on my lunch break and eating a healthier diet to hopefully lose 10 pounds. The numbers are just SO CLOSE! My BMI is 31. According to company standards, I have to be at 29.9 to receive the lower rates. Ahhhh, so close.
Since I've been checking out labels, I cannot believe all the sodium in foods:th. Even cereal and oatmeal.....wow!
Suppose to rain for 10+ days straight here starting today. Ugh!
You all have a good day! Got to eat my oatmeal:D and drink water.

Wow, that's a pretty steep hike in the insurance rate Outpost. You're so close. Keep reading those labels, you can do this!

Awesome stories. You could and SHOULD write a book. PM.

You are so very close. You certainly can do this! How many pounds would you have to shed to get to the 29.9? Is it a realistic and safe amount to be able to do in the time limit? If not, don't do it. If so, enter the race! You have a cheering section right here! I find that my wt drops if I stay busy at lunch time. Eliminate caloried drinks: an other wt buster. But, don't substitute artificial sweeteners. They are head ache inducers for me.

Yeah I'm gonna head back to bed too... Fishing at 5... Might catch a quick cat nap....
Phil, I think it should not be a cat nap but a fish nap! The cat will eat the real fish while you are dreaming of catching that big one!

Glad you all liked what I shared. It was a different childhood than most born out of economic necessity.I don't remember books worth but I do have vivid memories of some things. I'll share another memory later about the sleeping snake.

Outpost, I would try a two pronged approach if you can. I would try to lose the weight and dispute the numbers by asking if you can have a one month extension and retest in a month.

And who is talking snow in WY? That is a banned word in my seasonal weather book! Brrr.... Give me a warm place so I can be like a lizard on a rock and stay warm.
