My leukemia's back.

Hey, Phil, good morning. I agree far too much sec - what is wrong with people. Those images are tormenting testosterone laden young teenagers. Why, I had to sneak up in the attic and read old National Geographics to see my first breast.

UK TV advertising in the evenings is....selling sex and gambling...crazy as the adverts seem to go on for about 10 minutes late at night...I am not a TV person but my hubby is...I tend to wake him up before I go to bed and inevitably there is sex advertising on the TV...must bore him to sleep!

Isn't that the truth about the sex --- and it's not just the programming itself, so much of the advertising is nothing but sex, sex, sex -- don't get me wrong, I am far from a prude, but I am just SO tired of seeing it everywhere. It's insulting, frankly, that *they* think somehow making it about sex is the only way to sell a burger.....or a drain cleaning product.

Agreed! Not to mention what that's doing to the moral fiber of this country. What is that telling our kids? An other thing that irks the day lights out of me, is this: Why is it, that in most of the adventure shows, the main character male hero, and the main charactor female hero have such a disparity of wardrobe? Why is it that the guy gets to dress appropriate to the scene and activity, while the female is left running around, scantily clad, high heels, with various body parts hanging out to be exposed to the elements???? I can tell you that if I was going on an adventure, that I'd be dressed in plenty of layers, wearing sensible shoes, and I'd have plenty of rope, bubble gum, duct tape, and a good sharp multi purpose jack knife. If I'm gonna be fighting elements and elephants, foes and villains, saving the world from certain doom... I'm not gonna be standing around in my stilettos with body parts hanging out, waiting for the guy to get around to coming up with a plan!

The guys wear flat shoes so they can run away and you are left in high heels to save the world from certain doom...you can beat the enemy with the heels of your shoes...

Drives me bonkers when I see women scantily clad in films where the elements are not suitable for that attire....

it used to be that it was just for the men to ogle over...but nowadays it sees half of the young women are either bi or gay...so 3/4's of the pop is looking at it ...

I'm a bigTV guy but don't really watch too many commercials since the DVR came along....

I'm really enjoying reading the end of this thread! The nostalgia of old TV shows part, anyway. TV used to be something to look forward to each week. So much drivel and infotainment/news that it is just talking heads with different opinions. No real good family-oriented shows anymore. My kids grew up on Full House on Friday nights but I have recently watched the Fuller House remake... TOTAL waste of time!

I prefer Netflix. NO commercials of endless ads of medicine with deathly side effects...lol. I'm totally addicted to British shows!

My granddaughter who has grown up without TV, only a monitor for viewing DVD's, asked me the other day when we were watching a broadcast together and it came to a commercial..."Can't we fast forward through this part?" :)

I do hope the person who is fighting leukemia is doing better! Any updates?

@ OilyChick, Rachel has undergone a donor transplant, is in remission, and is back to work. We have gone from being 'Rachel's Team' to a mutual support and 'uplift' team.
