Rest in Peace -2017
Morning friends
I'm glad we're not the only ones that have those one-wreck-after-another days. But at least we can laugh about it---much, much later
.
I'm in broody hen heaven! I had Snake set and hatch 4 eggs, then a bantam Cochin and the buff Silkie went broody at the same time (same pen). I let them set air since I had shipped eggs in the incubator. Hatched 8 chicks and thought they would maybe co-mother them. Nope, the Silkie was not at all interested in live babies, she still wants eggs. And, the night before the hatched, the larger bantam hen in that pen flipped a switch and became glued to the nest. Seriously, no flirting with it, nothing. Bam, she's broody in her heart and soul. Since the poor Silkie is the Omega, she got kicked off the nest. I baited a new box for her and she loved it, so I gave her hatcher eggs last night. Also gave the bigger bantam hen eggs, and Snakes' sister Celeste showed up with 7 chicks. So I've got three hens with 19 chicks between them, and two more setting on a dozen eggs between them----does life get any better?
Phil, you just keep finding kiddos to take fishing. You have no idea what a difference you might be making in their world.
When I was younger, a horsie family helped me and hauled my horse to events. My mom was a horse person, but we were so blessedily broke a horse trailer might as well have been a million dollars. Those folks only had a two horse trailer, so sometimes they made two trips to haul my horse. Wonderful, wonderful folks.
I'm off work today, looking forward to a productive day at home. Got the bulk of the garden in, now I just have the pumpkins and some misc to get in the dirt and get a drip line set for.
