My leukemia's back.

Silly me, LG....Yup, guess I spelled it wrong or something. I can't swallow. Water is even hard - feels like everything that goes in is collecting in a pouch at the bottom of my throat slowly filling up as the days go by. This morning the heartburn was so bad that I grabbed a Tums and nibbled it down into almost a powder as I chewed. Seemed to ease some of the pain but the fullness...that feeling of rock being stuck in my craw....is still there. And now I have a Tums down in the pouch too. Don't know how chickens do it..eat rocks? On purpose? <sigh>

As for what they can do, well, nothing at this point. Took me off the Prednisone yesterday, which I was planning to do anyway. Can't believe I let them talk me into taking something I have a known allergy to, even though we discussed it in the ER on Monday night and then again on Wednesday night when I went back in. But they felt the benefits outweighed the risks. Um, no.

Wrote a long post about it the other day, but deleted it after Phil sent Don's message. Seemed so whiney and in light of the news we got it was really stupid to vent here. This will pass (at least I hope something besides yogurt and water will eventually) and I'll be none the worse for wear. I guess in some cases it never really goes away completely, but I could probably stand to drink less Coke (can't tolerate it now) and lose a few pounds anyway.

You have such a way with words...when you pray for someone I can hear your heartbeat in every word. Love you!
Blooie there's nothing petty about jabbing b swallowing issues.
I just thought of something.....i had a second bout of swallowing problems right after I quit smoking..... and sure enough it was caused by acid reflux.... of course when I quit smoking I went front 118 lbs to 160.
If I don't stay on prilosec I get so bad I can't swallow..... and the thing about prednisone is it aggravates all that acid reflux.

I was thinking what Phil said, Blooie, when you were talking about swallowing issues. One of the symptoms is having a hard time swallowing and feeling like something is stuck in your throat and also wanting to choke it back up.
Praying for you, Rachel, and your family. Blessings on you and yours! I pray you all will see visions of Jesus!

Been reading about Rachel on Granny's thread and wanted to pop by and give my regards...

Whenever I've seen Rachel here on BYC, she has been the very role model I want to be one day. She was an educator, an extremely good one and seemed to never think twice about writing a lengthy, informational post just for the sake of helping someone. She spread her kindness throughout BYC and I won't ever forget her for that. She will be greatly missed by me when she passes. Fight to the end, girl. :hugs

Hello Team Rachel! Hope you are all having a good holiday weekend. Hope Don, Rachel and the boys are enjoying their time together.

We are in Southern Colorado camping with the kids, teaching them how to find Piñon nuts. Life definitely a precious gift.

Rachel, Don, and kids: I filled out a prayer card for you this morning. Asking my church family to pray for you.

Phil, what you say about acid reflux, and Prednisone makes a lot of sense. Blooie, are you sleeping in a semi upright position? That may help.

I always have slept kinda in an upright position since my botched neck fusion about 8 years ago, LG. Tums are helping the intense heartburn...I just nibble them into almost a powder.

BUT I ate almost 1/4 cup of chicken nooooooodle soup this afternoon, noooooodles and all! No chicken, but did get the soup down by mashing the noooooodles. (eww) Now we wait to see if it goes the rest of the way.....GO ME!
