Well..

That is what I get for not calling yesterday and asking for an update. I just thought that no news was good news and my mom would want to sleep.

Well, it turns out that they TRIED to put him under for 48 hrs on Saturday, and WANTED to do that. .. but couldn't.

His blood pressure was dangerously low, and medication to knock him out would have made it drop too low.

He went into septic shock and post-operational - pneumonia on Sunday.

He knew my mom yesterday.. couldn't talk since he is intubated, but could write her notes.

He didn't recognize my mom this morning, but that was probably due to the pain.. they can't properly manage his pain since all pain management will reduce his BP, and his BP is so low.

Today his temperature has gone back down, and this afternoon he woke up and recognized my mom.

Doctors said it isn't as bad as it looks (since he is now, even when awake, intubated as well as on a ventilator).

They think he will probably live... but in the next 3 days it will be clear one way or the other.

I need to BOTH drop off and pick up kids from scouts...

Crap.... I might have to look at humans for more than 5 minutes at a stretch.

so excited? I would guess a bit anxious as well as happy about it.

Yes, that was it, I was a bit nervous. It wasn't bad at all! They do go easy at first. Said they need to take it easy for now because all that the surgeon had to do in there. That's ok by me. I go back on Friday.

Oh my goodness! I can't even imagine! Blessings to all of you. I pray he gets out of danger, and it will give you all a very good reason to be happy and grateful on Christmas day.
