My leukemia's back.

@getaclue, Jenny is home, and is VERY slowly recovering. She is still on injectable anti viral med three times a day. A spinal tap indicated that she probably has viral activity in her brain which is causing some of the headaches, nausea, dizziness, hearing loss and vision problems. Things are not improving like I would hope for, but we have to trust. Right about now I am not a happy camper. Keeping a 'smiley face' and positive attitude for others is tough.

Haven't gotten my results of my lab work back yet. But, yes I gave myself a shot. I'm supposed to do that every two weeks. didn't realize B12 could make such a big difference, will see what the results say, where I'm at with that particular vitamin. He said I may need to be taking it more often then every two weeks. I may need to take it once a week. May even need to take it a couple of times a week at First until I get levels up. He's just guessing right now as to my B12 levels. I will be a good girl from now on, and give myself shots every two weeks for now. :D I've been taking a multivitamin for a very long time. I also need to take vitamin D. I do that. When I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia I was told to do all these things. I've been doing pretty good... Except for the B12 shots. But I do take a vitamin called Trinsicon, which is a B12 / iron capsule. So my thinking was, I'm getting B12. :idunno Had my CT today. Oh boy, that contrast is a lot different than the contrast for the MRI. Didn't feel so good, was going to say it didn't feel so hot... But that's exactly how I felt... Hot! I now have an appointment to go back to this doctor to get the results of the CT, and hopefully will get the results before or at the office on the 6th with all of the lab work. He will be talking to me about the results of the lab work I'm sure. They took 6 tubes of my blood. That's the most I've had taken, ever, at once. Love this Neuro. Covering all bases. I've not been to one that actually brought vitamins into the picture. He explained how fibro has a lot of similarities to MS. I had asked him if he believed in fibromyalgia. LOL... I had wondered about that in the beginning, but knew that there was something to it after a while when so many things were going on. And he said definitely! If a lot of my blood work comes back normal, he wants me to go in for an MRI from my chest to my brain. My husband and I are beginning to see a lot of $$$$$$ signs. My walking is still bad. Told me my left leg is worse than the right. Woozy! Still. I was way bad today. That's where we're hoping B12 can help. Ok, enough for now. There's more, like I said, he spent close to 2 hrs with me. Prayers, that I will finally get some answers. Thank you!
B-12 in the pill is not easily absorbed--the older we get the worse too.

Can you look up your calcium number from the blood tests? Fibromylagia is a calcium issue in about 50% of the cases

Cynthia, Ken has severe pernicious anemia. I've been giving him B12 injections monthly for over 8 years now. At first we did every other day, then weekly etc until his red blood cells were shaped more normally and he had good levels. We asked about B12 oral supplements and were told that if he can't process the B12 from the foods he eats, then an oral capsule probably wouldn't be absorbed and used correctly either. He felt better within just a week or so - less joint pain and dizziness and more energy. Now I tease him and tell him that since his B12 looks just like cherry koolaid, he'd better be very nice to me. I'd sub the koolaid for the B12 and give him his injections as usual. It might take months, but in the end they'd never suspect me! :lau

I'm so glad your new neuro is being so thorough. Yes, Virginia - fibromyalgia is real!!

Just went through several tests myself. Had the low dose lung scan - it showed two small nodules in the upper left lung, but they aren't anything to be concerned about based on size, shape, and edges. Or some such.

I'm bruising like crazy. I always have with the blood thinners, but this has really gotten ridiculous. I woke up one morning with 7 big bruises - no clue where they came from. When we were back in South Dakota, my sister Lori and I were talking in the kitchen. I felt a deep, "under the skin" itch, looked at my arm, and had two dark blue welts, which we literally watched join and spread. By that evening I had a new bruise there that was bigger than half a dollar. I have them on my legs, back, stomach, chest, arms and legs. I almost cancelled out on going shopping for a new formal with Lori - I didn't want to be trying on clothes with all those bruises. But my dear husband promised me he'd get me a T-shirt that says, "Don't worry, he's already in jail" to go along with the bruises.

So as soon as we got back, Ken took me in to our primary. He about flipped when he saw the bruises. The nurse took my blood pressure - yep, bruises now from the cuff. Doctor ordered an EKG - bruises from the stuck-on electrodes. All of those formed before I even left the office. He ordered blood work - 9 vials worth, which was the most I've ever had taken - and one of the tests was for Von Wildebrands. It's usually inherited, but can occur later in life, I guess. Anyway, that came out normal. He'll go over the rest of the results with me on the 3rd and set up another cardio appointment for me up in Billings.

So, like you, now I wait.....:caf
Oh wow...I hope the bruises don't hurt as bad as they sound like they look! That's just crazy. Prayers for you! While here, asking for prayers for a granddaughter that had just spent 3 days in Primary Children's Hodpital. Have to go for niw, details later. They can't figure out what's going on with her either. I'll copy what her mom said.

I feel like a wrung out snot rag. Can't believe I have to go back to doing stuff tomorrow. :th
Day at a time Al, the end is approaching. Apparently either on Monday the 8th or Monday the 9th :gig

But my dear husband promised me he'd get me a T-shirt that says, "Don't worry, he's already in jail" to go along with the bruises.
:lau You guys!

I've been giving him B12 injections monthly for over 8 years now.
SQ I hope, it is easier.

Which is great.... that people are willing to step up and help.... but mom in law was a bit embarrassed.
Better embarrassed than beat on! FIL was probably lucky no cops chatted him up outside the bathroom.

not good news.

So sorry! Terribly stressful, especially when there is nothing that you can do. :old

We had a friend with MS, and that's how I learned to give shots. She had to have a B-12 shot every other day. Yes, it was a red liquid that looked like Koolaid.

Careful Blooie, if you change it out for Koolaid, he'll be busting through doors and walls like the Koolaid guy does.

sour, I'm still praying for her. I know it's hard on you. Sorry you have to go through this, and sorrier that she has to go through this.

Cynthia, praying for the granddaughter.

One of our granddaughter's has been ill for a while. It started out with some sores on her head that got worse and turned into boils. And then sores on her arms and then sores on her torso and then sores down on her legs. Her eyes are just a horrible bloodshot red and swollen. Mom had taken her to a couple of different Drs. They tested her for the west nile of all things, and also Lyme disease. They found out she didn't have any viruses, they couldn't understand why all the inflammation. They went ahead and sent her home after three days in the hospital of tests and MRI. Here's what mom was told, and what she wrote the family. .... She was discharged from the hospital today. They still are not sure what she has but know a lot of things she doesn’t have. The rheumatologist is pretty sure she has an auto immune disease but not sure which one. We now have to give it Time see if she can get off the steroid drops in her eyes and if her rash goes away. Then follow up regularly with the rheumatologist for the next year and see what happens. She had granuloma annular 8 years ago and with her granulars elevated in her blood now they are thinking Sarcoidosis. Then we found out that is what her grandma K has so pretty sure She has it. ............ Poor thing, our daughter told us that she had said that her tears felt like fire. She's 17. Let's pray this will subside, what ever it is.
