My son and I drove up on Tuesday. She was very glad to see us, of course, and I wish I had positive things to say about the visit, beyond the fact that the hospital staff were AWESOME. Mom was pale, weak, bloated from the steroids. While we were there, they started giving her the first of two units of blood; she keeps getting anemic and they can't seem to figure out why. She has practically no appetite; she says nothing tastes right. They were planning to move her to a nursing/rehab facility within the next couple of days.

As to how I'm doing? Well, I was in a fabric store a few days ago, and near the register, I saw a tote that said, "One Cat Short of Crazy." I think Jumpy believes he's the one cat standing between me and 'totally nutsy-cuckoo;' he seems to take his self-appointed job of "Purr Therapist" very seriously.

I'm glad you went to see her. You might want to try visiting her as much as time, and money allow. As to nothing tasting good, there are quite a few medications that throw off the taste buds, and the appetite. Hospital food, even good hospital food, leaves a lot to be desired too.

They do need to try finding the cause of her low iron. I don't remember you mentioning it when she first went in, so it's a result of something they've done, or given her after she was admitted.

Yeah steroids ruin the flavor of food.
When I'm on a higher dose everything taste like clay.
