Yes, you're right. Anesthesia and sedatives, etc. are just really, really bad for Alzheimer's, Lewy bodies, Parkinson's, etc.

My poor husband. If it isn't one thing it's another. Dr. had him come in for his yearly physical. We didn't need to be told that he's declining. It's sure hard to carry on a conversation with him, but I can figure it out most of the time. While there at the docs I reminded him that his last Dr was watching his scrotum. ..that sounded funny.... Anyway, he did have the blood test last year..that's nice they check that way now days. Blood test again. It's doubled in size. . Going in for an ultra sound this morning. If, he needs it removed, I need to ask if a block can be done instead of him going under anesthesia. I've learned that can bring a dramatic decline on in Alzheimer patients. Now, I haven't let my my mind go to the big C word too seriously. Of course it's come to mind, but where it's been enlarged for years, I'm thinking it's just that, and will probably need to be removed. I'm going to post this in a few places, because I know a lot of folks will offer up a prayer or two for us. I sure love you guys. .

My Dad had MS and he had a salivary gland tumor remove with general anesthesia. After the operation, MS flared up and he became wheel chair bound. My Mom would not let them use General again on him LOL!

I always opt for the least possible. Drugs are a great option to have when you absolutely need them, but they're all toxic--which is why they work.

Ok, here's one for you. Never got a phone call back about that ultra sound for his prostate...I noticed I posted the wrong thing back there! Fixed it! His prostate in question because it's doubled in size this past year. Anyway, I call the office to see if I could get results. A girl calls back ..sounds like she may have bad news because she keeps hesitating. Finally she says,. they did an ultrasound in the wrong area. They did his testicles. . Now the Dr wants it done right of course. Poor Scott will go in again. He's embarrassed with these ultra sounds. And, who's got to pay for that mistake? Not us! Thing is, it will be mostly covered by ins. And I mean mostly.

Our hospital is also administratively incompetent. DH goes all the way to Rochester, MN for his checkups. He wants to live...

Call the number on your insurance card, and make sure they know what happened. I think I'd be checking into who all does ultrasounds in my area, and see if there is anyplace better.

I have a renal ultrasound and renal Doppler next Monday. Should I maybe draw a dotted line around where my kidneys are so they get it right? We’re supposed to be able to trust these people!

My first thought is that someone in the doctor's office accidentally ordered, or scheduled the wrong test. I'm not saying it could not have been a mistake on the part of the testing facility, but it may not have been their fault.
