My Chicken is being picked on by the other hens. She is not sick. she is smaller from the rest of them. What should I do?

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Did you add her to your existing flock? I'm afraid there is always someone at the bottom of the pecking order and as she is smallest this will likely be the case. Using the look but don't method is a great way to add new birds. Keep he so she is next to the others and they can become acquainted but not fight. After a few weeks add your new bird and there should be minimum of fuss although some scuffles will happen. Some extra feed and water stations should help too so she can't be bullied out of eating and drinking.

Wishing you the very best of luck in the future and enjoy BYC :frow

Yorkshire coop gave you good advice. Just keep an eye on her and things should work themselves out shortly.

Hi

I have 5 one year old hens that are laying eggs in the front pen.The other 12 four month old hens and one roster got added to the flock of 5 hens two weeks ago.I have had the 12 hens and roster since chicks. They all got along. It took a week for all of them to adjust to each other.I went outside and noticed that my light Sussex sounded wheezy so I separated her in a separate pen because I thought she could be sick, and then googled what to do for her, and some one suggested to give her soft bread with olive oil because she might have something stuck in her crop. The next day I went out to check her and the wheezing was gone.I kept her in the separate pen one more day just to make sure, then I brought her back to the flock and she gets picked on now.So I put her back in the separate pen.I feel so bad for her. I want her with the rest but I don't want her picked on.
