My Light Sussex hates me!!!

Thanks for all the support!

Day before yesterday, she spent All day just sitting there with her head in a bush.
Decided she was wrong and went to catch her so I could examine her, but she was so quick on her feet that I couldn't get her without seriously stressing her. So I hooked her out yesterday at wake up time.

She spent most of the day looking miserable!

But ate a little fishy cat food in the afternoon, So I put her back out, coz I didn't want there to be issues.

She had maybe 2 mouthfuls of mixed corn with the others. Later I saw her standing by the food, still looking miserable, but I don't know if she ate or not...Certainly the food was all gone when I went to lock up

Today she was still alive when we got up

She is still looking really miserable, but her colour is good. She does not have bad breath, and her butt feathers are clean. But she is wandering around looking uncomfortable, not really part of the group. Not active like the others.

I wonder if she could be getting ready to lay her first egg? Am going to put out some yoghurt with olive oil in it, and hope she gets some of that down her. Am also going to give some oyster shell...

I can accept that she may just not be friendly. So she doesn't choose to come to me? I can live with that. I don't grab at her, or try to MAKE her come beyond enticing her with food. But quite often the throwing action frightens her off.

But I am fairly sure she is off colour!

UPDATE

Poor Isadora is still very poorly!!! But does seem to be picking up a bit.

I thought maybe she is making her very first egg and is having a bit of trouble with it...???

I brought her in yesterday for the morning and put her on a hot water bottle. I syringed yoghurt mixed with olive oil into her 3 times, and put her back out at lunchtime. She was a little better in the afternoon, and seemed to tale a little interest in what was going on around her.

Since this seemed to be working, I thought I should feed her up a bit more, and was going to catch her when I got them up this morning. But Isadora surprised me: She was shouldering her way out of the house just like a real chook.

So I missed my chance! But she does seem a bit brighter. Instead of sitting with her head in a bush, she is standing and moving around. Still not eating much though.

Spoke to the vet, who refused to see her (again). He seems only to have one idea about sick chickens: KILL, KILL, KILL!!!!

So the plan is to give her some nice fishy cat food mixed with sugar water by syringe every morning for a little while. I can't think of anything MORE full of energy, but would be grateful for any suggestions!!!
