Thank you all, for the kind words. I do know it's not easy being mad at the little guy. I tend to put up with a lot more from Teddy than I ever thought I would put up with a dog. He is a forever dog, just like the Big Dog has been. I would live outdoors before I would re-home the little guy. He get used as a Service dog from time to time. He is the best go church dog. He is very good at being quiet, and unobtrusive. He also loves his breaks.
His favorite place to go is to Home Depot with his Dad. He also likes to ride with his dad on the Goldwing. He has taken to standing on the tank and watching where they are headed. He figured out that he is tucked in and out of the wind, while standing there. He doesn't like to have the wind across his body any faster than about 25 mph. If they have go faster he will settle down into his safety harness pack, that his Dad wears when they ride. I am okay with them on the motorcycle as long as Teddy is buckled in. I still pray that nothing happens to either one of the guys while riding.
Today he is feeling very tender. His Dad left to go to work. Teddy knows that when his Dad gets the suit case out, that his Dad will leave again. In fact DH has taken to hiding the fact that he is packing again. He thinks he his fooling Teddy. But I can tell that it doesn't seem to make much difference.
It has always been like this for all the dogs. DH has traveled for work for the past 15 years. Most of the time he is only gone Monday through Friday. This time DH left for 3 weeks. He has to teach schools back in Wisconsin. The factory that he works for is based there, and in Germany. I am just grateful that I can still live on the West Coast near the family.
I don't know if the dogs understand that DH will be gone longer than normal this trip. I do know that after awhile that they start to watch for him. They also don't care if he talks to them on the phone. After all it's not like he is really here, or that the phone makes up for having to put up with Mom day in and day out. I don't think that DH has ever been gone a full month yet. It was very close this spring when he went to Japan after the tsunami. He was there to make sure that some very large pumps were ready to pump at the reactors.
Teddy is going to have it the worst, with his Dad gone. He like to go to bed early, and to wake up early. I the "Mom" can't seem to do the morning thing. It doesn't help that I am the night crew of the Washington thread either. So I have to put him and Big Dog to bed early, and they don't like it much. Poor big dog is starting to get lost at night too, but that is another topic for a different thread.
Teddy only got stuck outside about 3 or 4 times yesterday. Some days he doesn't stuck at all, but others he can get stuck multiple times. I don't think I even want to know what goes through his head.
