My little Nando just will not grow! Update: He's found a forever home!

cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! soooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaang!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! cuuuuuuuuuuuuuute!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmm... I see this thread has been sleeping for a week. I'll try to revive it. I, too, have a tiny Nando. Her name is Micra. She's a smooth-feathered blue sizzle, and is 12 weeks old. Her sister, a smooth-feathered blue sizzle, by comparison, is normal size. Micra has not grown, in size, since the day she was hatched. Only her wings have grown. She has a little trouble eating large pieces of grain so I keep her on powdered grains. She is otherwise normal and is very smart. Due to her siblings maturing, and mama weaning them, I had to transfer her recently to another broody hen, who took her in with her own day-old peep. The day-old peep has outgrown her at one week, but she doesn't seem to mind. She keeps eating, staying small, and sleeping under the new mama.
Any chance that her organs will grow larger, even though her skeleton doesn't, and she will die of the pressure on her heart as it tries to pump blood to the other growing organs, at some point?

Can she grow big some day, like Nando? Hope so.

(pics of her and her sibling coming tomorrow).

My little bit only grew to about 1/3 of her sibling's size. She died recently aged 5 months. I think her heart gave in, as near the end she went completely purple in her face and would fall over sometimes, unable to get up.
I was very sad when she passed, though we knew it was inevitible. Chicks like that often don't live long. But if I could do it all again I would!
Her name was Joy and she lived it to the end. She was a very special little thing.

Sounds very similar to Nando's story. So tiny and didn't grow for so long. From my research, they often end up male for some reason. Nando, as you know, was no exception. I figure we have to take it day by day and enjoy them for the time they have. Nando's spine is horribly deformed along with his foot. As he gets bigger (he's getting huge!) it's getting more noticeable. He walks a bit like the hunchback of notre dame. My cousin noticed he has no spurs. I wonder if he is asexual to some degree. He does not crow (a blessing) and has never tried to mount any of the hens, though I have no idea what age they decide to start doing that!
I recommend giving your Micra hard boiled egg, vitamins, and greens if you aren't already. Nando's growth went crazy once I varied his diet. Can't wait for pics!

I have just found/read this whole thread and was very touched by its story.
I'm glad Nan is doing well.

I had a the same thing with a silkie that hatched, sadly it passed away and i was very sad.
I tried to help it as much as I could but it just wasnt enough, the day before it passed away it was in an accident with a wild bird as the bird ripped out half of one of its wings .
When its siblings where 4 weeks old, the tiny one looked about a week old.
When it passed away I was holding it in my hand softly patting it.
But I just guess it wasnt meant to be.
