Hi guys I’m new to owning chickens and have had them for 3 months now!
All has been going great till 3 days ago when I notice one of my silkies would not go out of the cage or move at all for that matter!
Day 3 and got her out and checked her over this morning and she had an egg size lump in her chest so I looked it up and it’s her crop!
I have tried massaging like I was told but no good!
It is very hard and checking her again an hour ago it’s the size of a large apple now!
What do I do?

Have you been giving your chickens lots of treats? Do you supply your chickens with grit if they do not free range?

Scraps can be very bad for chickens. I would stop giving them scraps very often (if at all).

First, I'd withhold her food and water overnight and check her crop first thing in the morning before giving her access to anything to eat/drink again. Her crop should be completely flat/empty. She may just be a big eater. I have an Orpington who stuffed herself when younger, and her crop would worry me to no end.

If her crop is still rock hard, you will need to withhold her food (she can't digest it anyway if her crop is not moving), allow her access to water, give her coconut oil, massage that crop in a downwards motion. Repeat several times a day. Start the whole process over again the next day. This may require you to separate her from the rest of the flock.

Stick with the chicken feed for a while once you get her digestion restarted. She is clearly having trouble digesting something.

Let us know what transpires.
