Yesterday, I came to the farm and discovered large areas of lamps on my barred rock rooster's head. I wasn't on the farm for more than 2 weeks, my mum attended to the roosters in between and told me that there were something on his face a few days ago. My mum is nearly 75 yo, her eye sight was not ideal and she could not catch the rooster, so she wasn't sure whether it was food or something else.
The rooster is eating like normal, still crows a lot and forages like the others. I have caught him and had an exam, the lumps felt hard. I used disinfectant on the lumps.
It rained for quite a long period 3 - 4 weeks ago, so the roosters were not allowed to free range as often as usual. I am not sure whether that's the reason why Mr Red (the red rooster in the pictures) and him had a few bloody fights back then. Mr Red seems to have fully recovered.
My questions are: what are those lumps, how can I treat those lumps, other than going to a vet?
