Hey everyone so we got 4 ducklings - 2 Pekin 2 mallard exactly one year ago in January so they're all about 1 year and 5 months old. Last April the two mallards flew away after our golden retriever came running around the house (not going after them). Well the male came back right after sun set but the female never came back. So we've had a trio 1 male mallard 1 male Pekin and 1 female Pekin. So the 2 Pekins are mates obviously and when they mate the mallard climbs on top of the male Pekin sometimes. About an hour ago here in PA it's spring sunset is in couple hours - he just disappeared. My female Pekin started honking we ran out noticed the male mallard was gone -the two Pekins looked fine. They free range there hasn't been any sightings of any predators other than a bear at night but they get locked up in a pen. We have two dogs constantly running around outside. The 20 minutes before his disappearance we were outside four people 3 dogs running around and our cat. Then his parents left and he started his chainsaw to cut wood. Not even 5 mins after he finished cutting wood is when we heard female honking and noticed he was gone we searched everywhere no signs of anything. Does anyone have any advice on what happened? I'm praying a predator didnt get him and he did in fact fly away again. I'm wondering if he will be back? Thank you for any words !
