Hey! so i have 4 ducks, two turkeys, and a lot of chickens, we have a coop but the ducks never stay inside because they like to be down at the river behind our house. so about a week about our female mallard laid two eggs right beside our coop, and every since then she has pretty well disappeared, we can’t find her anywhere and i feel as if my male mallard is lost without her ☹️ i’m not sure if she went down the river and laid more eggs and is now laying on them or what. i’m just ready for her to come home so i was wondering if this has happened to anyone else, or if anyone has any advice for me! thank you!

Omgosh. I've had mallards in my pond for 9 MOS. Two weeks ago I saw a few eggs, then couldn't find my female Mallard. I walked around my pond- no duck, but did see about 6 eggs at waterside, but we're all crushed and dry, as if eaten by a coyote. We've had a rise in coyotes here in the last 10 years. Now my female Mallard is GONE! I don't know if she was attacked, killed or flew away. This is my very first experience with mallards on a pond. Anyway, I'm really worried about my Mallard Drake, he seems so alone. He has not flown away, but I think he's waiting on his mate to return. It's really sad! Any suggestions at all?? From ANYONE????

When my Mallard duck went missing she would eventually show up at night in the pen so I knew she was hiding out somewhere. She knew I gathered eggs every day so she went behind the tarps I had hung in a pet gazebo and built a nest. I didn't have the heart to take her off of the nest so I let her sit. She hatched out 11 beautiful babies that could be all mallards or some Rouens as Dad was a mallard drake but I also have rouen hens that lay daily. Now that they are born I don't know if they are mallards or rouens because she gathered eggs up from other hens and there ended up being 19 eggs in the nest. Hopefully yours is just nesting, The two stripe rule won't work for me since Dad is a Mallard and I think some can be Rouen but not have the second stripe since Dad was a Mallard.

Nothing related really but I’m kinda glad I don’t free range 😅 (I don’t have the space) and plus my female is almost 8 months old and can’t fly🧐 but anyways good look I hope she’s just nesting

I hope she is too. I was able to sell all of my ducklings, I sold them cheap and have a Momma duck sitting on more due to hatch today. They are already mostly sold too. It is fun to get people started on ducks at a good cost and know they are going to a good home.
