My mamma chicken has lost her mind

I have had hens raise batch after batch of (bantam) EE/OEGB/Cochin mix chicks. Never did have a problem with mine being picked on by other hens. Mine did have the opportunity to free range. I had Roos (a pair of Self Blue D'Uccles) that took on raising some orphaned chicks (mom died shortly after she hatched them). The babies would snuggle up under the roos' wings.

I apologize for being less than welcoming. I did not mean to cause offense, but after reading my post, I realize how offensive it was to you. Please forgive me. I didn't do a very good job offering help and encouragement, which is what this site is all about.

Thank You Lazy Gardner for the apology. Everyone can have an off day so not to worry. I reached out because I was starting to panic because she was just acting all crazy. My chicks from last year did not act all crazy ever. I swear my chickens in another life were fat, lazy dogs. After watching her for a while, I figured out that she couldn't get her big-mama head in the little-chick feeder so her answer was to flip the feeder and all the contents on to the ground and peck. Then she would scratch all over the place because she is a chicken and kick cedar into her water. So I decided to just put food in a pile in the crate 3 times per day and she has been fine ever since. They are going to join the rest of the family tomorrow. Today they are in the crate next to the coop so they are peeking at each other. Here is the Mama and the littles before I took them out to meet the family.

Glad things are better. Your little one looks so cute on Mama's back
