I ordered 26 (25 meat and egg combo, as well as an EE) + the one free exotic. I got 29 chicks!

My exotic was a white crested black polish. That one didn't make it - another two aren't doing too well either.

I got an email on Sunday saying they were shipped out. "Shipment Accepted in Saint Paul, MN at 1:44 AM..." I thought it was weird, that they shipped them out in the middle of the night. Anyone know why they do that? The email said that they should arrive on Monday or Tuesday. I suppose they didn't factor in that it was a holiday on Monday so they didn't get here until this morning (Wend.).

On the box it says they were hatched on the 18th. I was mortified picking them up this morning. I figured I'd have a big box of dead chicks after being in transit for 4 days. :-/

I have a feeling that McMurray got my order wrong... and sent me all meat birds. They seem to all be Cornish and Dark Cornish chicks minus my Easter egger, which I did get (at least I think it's an easter egger.) I would post some pictures but I'm too new of a member.

**I suppose I've passed the test of not being Spam!! Here's some pix -
The box was so small I couldn't imagine 25+ chicks fitting in there! Then I saw how tiny they were!

Dark Cornish on the left and my EE on the right?

There are also two chicks that are a bit smaller than the Cornishes with a bit of a darker yellow plumage. Runt Cornishes or a different breed altogether?

Here's a closeup:
It seems very intent on reading that newspaper

I'm sorry to hear about your poor little Polish. I'd ordered two of those, but my husband put his foot down. Not very cold hardy birds, but the chick should have been warm enough with 20-odd little buddies around it. I'd call McMurray and check with them. If there's an error they are very helpful and will correct any mistake. Excellent customer service!

Yea, I was surprised when I got the email on Sunday. I figured that they would ship on Tues or Wend. If I had looked at my calendar and realized when I put in the order a month ago, I would've waited a week.

I'll give McMurray a call tomorrow and see what they say, hopefully it won't be difficult explaining what I have.

I love McMurray Hatchery!! They send me chicks every year and they are them most beautiful and health chicks I have ever seen! Im sorry about the mess up order and the unhealthy chicks. I hope they make it.

oh thank you mine were suposed to be here any time between sun and tuesday this makes me feel somuch beter sory about your order being rong

Congrats on your getting most of your chicks safe and sound. Our first batch from McMurray had a tiny polish as the mystery bird. Ours was alive when we got it but died about 4 hours later. I just think they are too fragile for winter shipping - I see where others have had their polish mystery chick die. Our replacement order had what may be a Cochin and he has done fabulous.
