Your daughter's hands put the size differences into perspective better than my photos did. Next week I'll have my girls hold them for me. I bought 5 americanas and 5
? bantams at the feed store yesterday...counldn't resist them

...the Cornish are so huge compared to those sweet little banties. The banties look like wild baby birds, they are so small. I have them in a separate pen to keep the Cornish kids from squashing them.

Week 2 photos. I bought a small kitchen scale to weigh them so that the growth is easier to keep track of. I only took a few out to weigh them, but I tried to pick different sized cornish for variety.

This is my week old bantam for scale

As you can see, the cornish are a lot heavier than the Red Broilers & black mystery roosters.

I lost another chick. It was a Cornish and it had developed Crook Neck the first week. I added extra vitamins to the water and the others are fine but Crook Neck never got better. She was able to eat when I saw her but anyway, it died a couple days ago. Oh well, a person always looses a few it seems like. Better now than at 4-5 weeks old.

They have been moved to the garage with Heat lamp. I am hoping this weekend to move them to the coop with the heat lamp.

i will try to get some pictures today.

Sorry you lost one (who died before, an EE?). I lost one of the new banties. But so far so good with the meat birds. They are all in the garage with their heat lamps and hanging cages so the house doesn't smell anymore! Having the manure go through the cage & to the plastic on the floor is great for composting - so easy to get it where it should go! It is suppose to get cold again tonight and through the weekend, so I am going to have to cover the sides of their cage again to hold in heat. At least they are mostly feathered this week. I bought another bunny cage for the meaties. Eventually they will outgrow the original one, so I'll have one for 10 and another for the other 10. I really hope it will get warm enough to put their cages out in the grass during the day soon.

Your black mystery roo looks like a black australorp. Am I wrong? They are dual-purpose.
