My metal shed turned chicken coop

Just wanted to show pictures of our weekend work. Turned our old unused metal shed into a coop for your hens. Will be building the run in the next weekend or two. Planning on providing a large space for them to roam around in the day. Any suggestions for improvements or something I have missed?

Hello! We have the exact same scenario here - an old unused metal shed that we want to turn into a coop. My concern is that it may get too hot in there. We will, of course, have ventilation and a couple roof vents, but did you find heat to be a problem at all? Or anything else? We live in VA, so it can get pretty hot in the summer (heat index 110 a few days at least). Thanks for your post!

My free to me metal shed convert.
It has a 4x8 foot print.
I have housed as much as 15 birds in there on the 3 level set up with no issues

I do not live in any state Nikiandalex unless you count the state of misery LOL.

I actually live in Canada. In New Brunswick a province near your northern state of Main on the eastern seaboard. You are probably not familiar with our small have not province.

I never counted the space under the coop so I suppose in actual fact there are 4 levels to my coop (I stand corrected).

Yes that is exactly why I elevated the coop. They get under there and make their little dust bowls in the summer.

The coop is actually housed on a trailer and I move it every year about this time. Then I plant my pumpkins in the run area. I do not even till the ground I just put the seeds by poking a whole with a stick.
