my mom has a problem with my curtains...

We have such BIG windows that new treatments are like $500 for 2 rooms....and I dont have expensive taste! So, I am stuck with the stupid ex wife's window treatments and more than abused honeycomb blinds till I win something...

I have been known to tape dark trash bags over windows where the evening sun comes through while saving for a window treatment of one sort or another. It happens to the best of us.

I did notice at the habitat for Humanity ReStore, they had blinds of all kinds for REALLY cheap.

My front window is 16 feet across so when i first moved in I bought half the curtains and used a sheet on the other half until i could afford the second half. It is amazing how much they add up when you have big windows! I also wanted the light blocking/ thermal ones so that adds even more to the price....

i used to live in a flat in downtown Sacramento... it had 36 windows! the laundry room even had windows.... i had lots of light there as I never covered all of those! thank god it had central air or i would have cooked! And it was upstairs so i wasnt too worried about people seeing in..

I looked into getting curtain for my sons room in our old house. It would have cost us $40 for one window. I ended up cheating and using a fabric shower curtain. It worked just fine, cost half as much and was actually thicker than any of the curtains we saw at the low, low price of $40.

Sheets can make great curtains....if you make them into curtains

I have a feeling you just threw up some sheets to block your windows and your mom is going to make over your windows for you ..... which is a good deal if you ask me

LOL

You can make things out of pillow cases too!!

Like this pillow case dress used as flower girl dresses....My daughter is 3rd from left.

These are easy to make!

There is a booklet out there about how to sew stuff out of sheets. Sheets are the cheapest large pieces of fabric you can buy. So you can make curtains, table cloths, dust covers for furniture, etc. etc. I am going to make curtains out of some sheets I bought too, but right now we are stuck with the nasty dusty blinds, until I find the time to sew something up.

We tend to keep the window treatments from the previous owners, just because it is the LAST priority we have . . . spending money on the window treatments.

Mom's are the best!!!!!! My Mom visits once or twice a year and while she is here we do a project that she usually pays for. Last visit we painted my living and dining rooms. reapolstered (sp) the dining room chairs AND she bought us a beautiful new ceiling fan for the finishing touch!!!!! I only wish she would visit more often, lol
